Remarkably clear photos Spud. Thanks.

What sort of range are you getting with the Clarke tank these days? What is the actual (not advertised) capacity?

Thank you, W&G.

I am getting 85 mpg, so I can ride about 240 miles before I hit reserve at 2.8 gallons. I have not run the Clarke tank dry for quite a while, so I can't tell you if the capacity has expanded beyond the claimed, 4.1 gallons. However, if the capacity has remained 4.1 gallons, I can ride another 110 miles on the 1.3 gallons in reserve. Therefore, my total range with the Clarke fuel tank is approximately 350 miles. Needless to say, I enjoy my Clarke fuel tank very much.

Thanks Spud.

When I say actual vs. advertised, what I mean is that you can't necessarily fill a tank right to the top, especially if the filler hole isn't at the highest point (and level on both planes). As a matter of procedure, you likely only fill to perhaps 1" below the cap line, thereby minimizing gas leakage out of the vent.

It occurred to me that you likely never fill the tank from empty, so you might not know the actual capacity.

very nice pictures, and you truely are lucky to live in that area. seeing those pictures really makes me want to find a dual sport bike. but i live in a city so i might as well pick up a 250cc sport bike to start off with.. bikes with motors will be the death of me one day, i already know and accept that fact. since sooner or later i will do something stupid, thats why i want a 250, to start off small and slow..
It's a big beautiful country, Brother Mike.

With all respect to our New Jersey members, I also grew up 'urban', and blew out and headed West first chance I got, and I'd never go back. If I go east of the Rocky Mountains I get hives.

Pick a place on the map that works for you, and go for it. Life is short.

I know it's not that easy, and every palce has upsides and downsides, but find the best compramise for you.

Personally, I can't do 'city'. Even for a visit I get the creeps.

You're welcome. I can actually fill my Clarke fuel right to the very top. The fuel cap is at the highest point, and it is level on both planes. This Clarke fuel tank is very well designed.
