I had a simular issue on my Zong 200 and it was the fork part actually floating out to far from the star wheel bit.
It would miss grabbing the pins on down shift - I reset the end float and slightly bent the fork so it wouldn't miss the pins it grabs on and all is 99% fine as only now n then do I get a slight miss grab/no grab but a wee flick or tap on the lever settles it back correctly
