Welcome to the forum. You have one of the best small bikes made, regardless of country of manufacture.

You are quite far from as I am at the borders of Mexico, US, California, AZ, Sonora, and Baja Norte. If you ever get sent out this way (for work or a long ride) let me know!

Are you having problems with the plastic shroud which covers the gas tank, or the gas tank cap?

Nope,
I trimmed the plastic shroud because the original didn't like at all. The result?, I don't like how the shroud looks after trimming. Thus, I am working on the shroud to look better than know. However, it is gonna take me about one week since I spend most of my time with my job and family.

I thought you did a good job trimming the fuel tank shroud, but your opinion is the only one that matters. You can remove the shroud entirely, or you can follow my example, and install a Clarke fuel tank designed for the Yamaha XT225.

The way I will fix the shroud will be of similar shape of your clarke gas tank (I hope so).

Clarke now makes a TW200 tank, and that might be a perfect fit. As a bonus, it holds quite a bit more fuel than the stock tank.

I'm pretty sure the TW200 tank will not be a perfect fit for the Zong. The Zong's fuel tank is about 3/4-inch (19mm) longer than the TW200 fuel tank. With a little elongation of the 'hockey pucks' which secure the front of the fuel tank, the TW200 tank will probably fit. Nevertheless, there will probably still be a big gap between the rear of the fuel tank and the Zong's saddle. However, the extra gallon of fuel would certainly be an improvement.

Interesting; I found the opposite to be true. When I installed Spud's Zong fuel tank on my TW, a gap resulted between the seat and tank. The gap is not only a length difference, but also a slightly different angle.

It's not enough to bug me.

Weld,

Are you saying the Zong tank was shorter than the TW200 fuel tank? Yes, the angles of the fuel tank and saddle are definitely different.

Because I only use the vento from Mon-Fri (about 50 miles per week when commuting or less, occasionally on Sundays), I don't want to invest in a clarke tank. The stock tank is enough for my necessities. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'd have to go look at it, but I think that's right. I remember needing to elongate the mounting hole to suit the TW.
