duck9191 is correct. You will be fine with 87 octane. I would try to fine ethanol free gas is possible. If not add sta-bil marine. This will keep the moisture out of the gas and keep the tank from rusting. Ethanol absorbs moisture.

i guess the answer is no ethanol, even if your the slightest bit paranoid?
this has prolly been asked million times but i assume, if in doubt, always use
ethanol free.
its just a pain to travel 15 min in a direction i never go in order to can up the good stuff, or correctly measure out the additive each fill up....its one of those 'i told you so' stories if i put ethanol in it. was just hoping it wasnt such an issue with a 17' model and being fuel inj, and wishing technology has improved without me knowing it has...

I usually try to avoid using ethanol fuel but sometimes you have no choice if your out on the road and none available. If I do use gas with ethanol I'll usually fill it up with ethanol free fuel before going home. The newer bikes should be okay. My concern is I live in a high humidity climate and have seen what ethanol can do to boat fuel tanks and lines. That stuff will turn to sludge. Fuel lines look like clogged arteries. If you live in a low humidity climate you will probably never have any problems.

I wouldn't worry about it. Even with a stabilizer in it the ethanol is still there they just help deal with phase separation and the moisture that the ethanol absorbs. You can run marine gas, it should be ehalon free too but your gonna pay and some marinas will not let you fill anything that's not a boat.

I fill up with whatever is cheap and available in the summer, then come fall start running more ethanol free and try to run the tank near dry and will up with ethanol free gas with a stabilizer before winter.

After reading this with a fresh mind this morning I think your manual may be right information on the 91 octane fuel. This is not a Chinese bike with a poorly written manual but a Korean made bike built for the US. This bike does have a higher 12:1 compression ratio. I forgot this was a single cylinder water cooled engine and not the GT250 V twin air cooled that only has a 10.2:1 compression ratio and only requires 89 octane. I found two Service manuals for the GT250 and 650's and are very will written. I haven't found one for the GD250 yet.

I think these bikes great. Can't beat the price. I'm just surprised they are not that popular. Everything I have read and watch on these bikes have been positive. I'm torn between the GT250 and GT650. The GT250 is more than enough power for me but I like the extra HP the GT650 has.

12:1 really? i couldn't find anything in a few quick links. that's pretty high but if the timing isn't very aggressive it could be fine on 87. I would reach out to Hyosung and see if you can get them to confirm what method they are using to spec the fuel.

the gt250 is a 600 bodied size bike, and to me it just seems like someone putting lipstick on a pig by putting a 600 body around a 250. i think the gd holds its own in respect. but the gt 650 get all the respect.....the naked gd250n looks the best to me, but harder to find at $2k like the gd250r is

yes the manuals are in detail very professionally. parts world is abundant.
the hyosung does seem to get a good overall feedback, and i am surprised i just now got interested in them. this weekend will be fun to finally get to riding one. you know me, i will have to find a fender delete method. i found one labeled it will fit but haven't found a pic of one already mounted.....

"Gasoline should be used a graded 91 octane (Research Method) or higher.
An unleaded gasoline type is recommended." page 12 of the exiv 250 service manual usa.

so they are recommending 91 RON ie 87 here in the US. Still wouldn't hurt to run 91 because they are not consistent nor clear is it should be listed as 91 RON.

I pretty sure the manuals are written to US standard. You can try running 87 and see if you have and audible knock. This bike is not equipped with a knock sensor to reduce timing so be sure to listen for knock your first few rides out.

Oh there is nothing wrong with the GD250R by any means. Awesome looking bike. Maybe if I was younger it would be for me. I would just look out of place on it. I'm just old school V twin kind of guy. lol

No worries.
Premium (고급휘발유) in ROK is just 94 RON minimum... Anyways many station are selling premium gas not to minimum requirement http://m.ondeal.co.kr/article/view/10068. Korean made vehicle at least won't brake running on their shabby (ie. regular grade) fuel.
