Mine is a Brozz with The inverted forks not sure if that makes a difference compared to the hawk . I replaced only what came out after draining for several hours .

I checked the front wheel and tire last night and it is true and all the spokes are tight

Upside-down forks, like on the Brozz take more oil than standard forks, like a Hawk has. I don't remember how much more, but at least 50cc more...ARH

USD Forks> I found that simply leaving them upside down does not drain all the oil out. You have to pump the fork and drain, pump and drain. I even snugged up the cap, pumped more, removed the cap and drained what was left.

totaly correct....
not done chinese ones.. but alot of the jap units have to come apart to totaly drain them..
but from diagrammes of the Chinese ones they seem to be missing alot of the
componets the jap ones have in them... so maybe easyer to drain them..
Some of the Chinese ones are "USD" in look only compaired to the others..

Spud put up some pics of his RX3 forks apart... they look like a Suzuki
DRZ400 style internals in a up side down houseing..
the DRZ forks are pretty dam good though...

did the wheel bounce before you had it powder coated? i don't have any idea if that could cause it to be off balance or not but worth asking

I took my old tire off today, and fitted an inexpensive Shinko 244. That was a fun job, and by 'fun' I mean about as easy as a one-legged cat trying to bury a turd on a frozen pond. I've only changed bicycle tyres before and didn't have any feel for good technique. Still, I got it done and learnt a lot for next time.

The new tyre is nice, and the bounce has gone completely.

LOL....
practice , practice and more practice...

In fact I have more trouble getting the wheels out & back in the bike
than changeing the tyre...

I'm with you, SB. I've changed tons of tires and hate it just as much, every time.
Proper tire irons and getting it up off the ground helps....but it still sucks. My least favorite task on a bike.

I didn't enjoy it. I prepared thoroughly and read as much as I could; it's basically a scaled up bicycle tyre. I realised it's like most things where it's 80% technique. It got a lot easier when I gave in and started using my hands (and feet!) as much as possible (which turned out to be quite a lot), and only using the irons for the toughest parts.

I'm grateful I didn't have to worry about rim-locks, or even direction or balance - the Shinko 244 is unidirectional and has no heavy point.
