I'm guessing that the new parts you bought are direct replacements. Did you consider a higher compression piston? Son of Weldangrind and I installed a Wiseco piston in his XR, and it's 9.1:1, IIRC. We haven't fired it up yet, but I'm sure the difference will be noticeable.

I choose to not tell the dealer what I'm working on. I research the part numbers on line and ask for them at the counter.

it is also 10mm eyes however they look like they may be easily bored. I have one on my bike and love the adjust ability plus you wont have issues with a too soft spring

I'm afraid Spud will be safe in his rule, the boxes aren't there anymore, however there is a bunch of new junk in it's place.

I finally got it slapped together enough late last night to get it running and did a few victory laps around the neighbourhood. It ran pretty nicely, smoked some but I'm fairly confident that's residue in the pipes. It'll be a little bit more time before it's 100% but the fact that I was doing circles last night was encouraging.

Still waiting on a new starter and have to do some modding to get the headlight to fit. I'm also toying with the idea of a smaller speedo/odometer, any input there?
Oh ya, I'm wanting to change out the exhaust too, I like the look of what Spud has, would that fit mine without alot of modification? Maybe I should just get an entire new bike and just swap the seat over huh?

The FMF Universal Spark Arrestor installs easily on the Zongs. However, I believe you will need to bend the midpipe to get an FMF Universal Spark Arrestor to fit your Hondoid. :(

One thing I've done with two stroke pipes is to securely mount them in a vise, but not a vise that's bolted down; I set the vise on the concrete, away from anything combustible. I slowly heat the entire pipe from the outside with a torch, and eventually all of the oil inside will burn off.

It's not the most environmentally friendly thing I've done, but it's effective. It's gonna burn off anyway.

If I ask any more questions you need to not answer.

Sometime in the near future I will have a snazzy new speedo, (not swimsuit, already have that) new rear shock and new exhaust. I also have a new front tire on the way, KENDA TRAKMASTER K760 MOTORCYCLE DOT TIRE 80/100-21 so it will match the rear and hopefully keep my wipeouts to a minimum.

I went with your recommendation on the shock. I like the ease of adjustment options it has. My current one is pretty un-user friendly.

I had a day that wore me out but I knew I had to do SOMETHING worth mentioning on my Lifonda.
The headlight I bought way back was calling out to me to install it so I went to work. The wiring was different from the original stock headlight of course, but I drew from my expertise in vehicular wiring and took a stab in the dark and decided that green wires in China equal black wires over here.
To make life easier and to make this particular headlight street legal, (which I wasn't THAT worried about) I shaved the overly big edges of the original light socket until it fit into the new headlight. I hooked it up and sure enough it's got hi and low beam, just in time, since I need to get it inspected next month.
Oh, just a little tidbit of a story to communicate my starving for riding.... I was roaring around the neighbourhood last night and was getting a little overly "hyped" and took a corner too fast for my balding front tire and felt it slipping. I corrected the slip and endend up going way around the grassy side of someones mailbox and across their lawn! It would have been bad since I was in shorts and a T-Shirt.

I got the new headlight on but it doesn't fit quite right with the bulky speedo so it's zipties holding it on for now.

I hooked up the new CDI and I either did something wrong or it's not 100% compatible, when I was done taking it for a test ride it didn't want to shut off! If need be I'll wire up an alternate switch.

I still seem to have a bit of a response issue, it bogs down if I give it a quick rev from idle, the carburator is brand new so unless it needs tweaking, which I wouldn't think it would, could it be poor air intake? I've never done anything to improve air flow.

Some more pictures will come soon once I download to my computer and remember how I did it before. Yay Weekend!!!!

What CDI did you upgrade to?

For the throttle bog, it is an issue with all four strokes, the mixture leans out bad with a quick opening basically because the air will start flowing faster than the fuel at first and if the rpms drop too much it will loose the vacuum needed to get fuel flowing out the main jet. The main solution to this problem is to have a carb with an accelerator jet. You can tweak the idle mixture screw and idle setting to minimize it.
