Something else we have in common. I owned and raced a RZ350 at (then) Sear's Point in California.
I didn't wheelie that one either. I don't think it would hurt the wheel bearings, although I'd wonder about the headset races.

If you made a habit of doing it again and again and again (esp dropping the front end hard) then I could see an issue.
for the occasional wheelie you won't damage them. I also don't try to wheelie on the road. (the the ripping 16HP on the XL175/200 I don't have to worry about it LOL.. ) I never did race the RZ Doc, The wife drew the line at that. When I started dating her I was racing MX in West Berlin Germany(they tossed me into the Pro class the 2nd year Yikes, But I did learn from the top 10 riders. I made the top ten a few times in the Pro class. ) and then Hare scrambles and enduro and trials stateside. |

All I can say about my season of racing is I had fun, never fell, always finished and did not blow up the bike.

It was just club racing anyways. I raced it more informally in the canyons.

I would say you had a successful racing season then. LOL (you know the old saying ? How to make a small fortune racing? Start with a large one.)
I just enjoy potting around on the Xl nowadays. too busted up to do any racing anyway. But it was a Gas... (don't drink or do drugs Never have but I like adrenalin. ) |

I liked not being on the lookout for police, gravel, animals, potholes, fallen trees or rocks, etc.
Nice to give 100% attention to 'safely' riding very fast.

I have no desire to race. However, wearing proper gear and racing on the track is undoubtedly the safest place to race. The street is far too dangerous a place to race!

I used to wheelie all the time without much disturbance to stuff, other than looping it quite a few times. Was constantly up on maintenance anyway. Something to do in the evenings to avoid parental chores!
'Privateered' motocross for a few seasons locally on a stripped Yamaha Enduro. Lots of fun, lots of wrecks, kinda costly financing it with minimum wage but worth every penny. Thank God my dad let me use his El Camino to get to the track. Had to replace the gas though. As usual, by the time I got a 'real' motocross bike, I was to busy with life-in-general to really give it a serious go. Still got the old relic though!

Wheelie technique?
Twisting the throttle half way open works on my bike!! I'l have to get a video of it doing a wide open throttle wheelit, I can get it to lift in second gear with a lot of throttle and a little body english. I apologize for the train horns at the end.
