no rear sprocket avail per jt sprockets. guess stock crap is best until i custom make

to Richard
i need the jtr 242 in a 42ish tooth count
.................................................. .......

to me

The 242 is only available in 50 and 53 teeth...and there is not other sprocket in 428 that will work.

You could convert to 520 (JTR254 is availabe in 41 and 43 teeth). If you want to go that route, I need to know the front sprocket to see if there is a conversion to 520.

Regards,

Richard

to Richard
this is for a 125 lifan 4spd. not sure 520 will work on front sprocket. will it? my stock front sprocket is 428 14tooth 17mm 2017 honda grom. and i have already upgraded it to 428 17t. if 520 would work on rear would going back to 520 14t work as alternative to 17t 520?
.................................

Richard Brice
to me
I don't think it will work. The 520 sprocket is thinner than 428 but the 17/42 gearing is a problem. You will need a 14 in 520 and that puts you needing a 34 rear and the smallest 254 is 39 teeth.

You may very well need to get a custom aluminum sprocket made to get the gearing you want.

Regards,

Richard

If the front sprocket type is the same as the Hawks, the JTF259, then there is a 520 front sprocket option available. JTF328.

The JTF328 comes in 12, 13, and 14. The 12 and 13 easily fit the Hawk and clear the chain, so likely they would also work on your bike. The 14 with a 520 chain around it will likely be too big.

In either case, the lowest gear ratio you will get is around 3.00- 3.15. That being the case, I would stick to a 428 chain.

What are your stock sprocket counts?

stock 14/42 in a 428

the rear sprocket is way better quality than i found on my 2017 hawk. the groove on the side where the clips rest is pretty ok, but its that gold brass looking material....
i was able to put 17 on front. i am happy with the setup but that weak metal rear sprocket will always be in the back of my mind.....ignore the measurements in the pic as i confirmed the jtr 242 measurements(less tooth count)

These guys made me a rear sprocket for a TMEC I used to own. They were quick and the sprocket seemed high enough quality. Not sure how far away they are from you, but they are in Tenn. They were quick to mail order me my sprocket to AZ.

carb spinner is in

it did not come with the tapered flat head screws/bolts as in the ad where i purchased it.
it does line up perfect.
Attachment 12332
the cut out on the edge of the spinner may be needed for other engines,

Attachment 12333
i wish i could have spun the carb to the front, but
the frame is in the way to front and starter is the in way from stock position.
hence the spinner.

one might ask, where is the engine on that cycle
because i see an exhaust. well, you have to be this close to see
the horizontal 125cc.

i am going to carefully grind/sand/dremel the edge of cut down to flush, paint, reinstall, and find me a bracket. i think it will turn out great this way.

How much does that bike weigh? I'm assuming it's also using a CRF50 engine mount type pit bike 125cc engine?

If you have the time, ZS190cc with the Daytona 4 valve head. Bored/stroked to 212cc would be an epic "add-on". With the weight to power numbers... you'll outrun the old ninja and cbr 250's.
