I ordered up a new variator with 10gram sliders, yellow 1500lb torque spring, and a new bando belt.
Noticed the clip on the master link is missing. I think its #50 chain. Might be 530. It is double row. I am going to try and get the sprockets aligned better too. I think a bushing is missing or not installed correctly on the chain adjustment. Engine is only held by one bolt at the top by the starter and then the chain adjustment bolt at the rear.

You are a lucky man to have such beautiful little helpers.

They are learning. Emilie used the impact and took the pulleys off. Lily used it on the rear wheel. We took apart the seatbelt buckles and were able to repair those. Now we just have to wait on some parts. Suppose we can change engine oil and final drive oil. I have not found where to put oil or grease in the reverse box yet.

Some more pics.
You can see where the belt was stuck on the clutch pulley. Stopped it should have been all the way to the outside. Also a pic of the variator and broken bits. I only found one of the plastic ramp plate sliders. Rollers didn't look too bad. I don't think this has many hours on it. I got a pic of the nut and some broken bits that were hidden behind the clutch. We took the clutch apart in preparation for the yellow torque spring. Torque spring will allow faster downshift and betting pulling power. Need that for sled pulling. New variator is a "performance" unit with 10 gram sliders. I think the stock rollers are 14 gram. This will allow the engine to rev higher before engaging. This setup will give us some great acceleration with sacrificed top speed. Top speed is not that important for our yard. I had the opposite for the Honda Elite. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151126577485...84.m1439.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/321234256105...84.m1439.l2649

I never thought about it before, but you can't see grease under red fingernails.

Thanks for posting the link to the great photos! It appears Buford has delegated some of his lesser supervisory duties to Mister Fluffy.

I've read that sliders are the way to go. Combined with the yellow torque spring, it should be a fun machine.
It would be even more fun with a 180cc BBK.

Mr Fluff has the job of sniffing shop rags and keeping seats warm.
Scrappy dog has a 200cc GY6 replacement buggy engine. The current engine is the not as common 2 bolt valve cover meaning that the go fast parts are not as easy to find. I think with the CVT mods we will have more than enough power. The engine runs fine with no smoke. Started in the cold.

I grabbed the stock rollers and weighed them. 14 grams each. I think the 10 gram sliders will make it wake up.
Parts are looking like a Thursday arrival. Don't think we will get a chance to ride it before we leave for Minnesota.
