Ok, I'll ask my buddy and get back to you. It will likely take a day or two.

The rear tire is a Duro "Thrasher", size AT19X8R7. It's not exactly like the original, but it's close. The Duro is a tad narrower, but the tread pattern is similar.

That's a cool looking little bike! The big wheeled bikes really intrigue me, I thought they were the coolest things back in the day when the BW was first introduced but could never afford one. Still like to get my hands on a TW or a BW, guess I'll live vicariously through you and W&G for a while and see what your ride reports are like . Grats on the new wheels!

Yeah that tire would work.

The big tired bikes are somewhat rare to come across and I have been wanting one for a very long time now and when this one came up I jumped at it.
We drove about 7-1/2 hours in a black rain, it was so dark people were having a hard time seeing the road, we got home at midnight with it.

Congratulations, TC. I never saw a BW80 before; even the front tire is huge. 8O I didn't know Yamaha made a big wheel 2-stroke.

Actually I think honda makes a 200cc four stroke version while yamaha makes an 80cc, 200cc and a 350cc.

I meant to say Yamaha, not Honda, TC. I corrected my previous post to that effect.

I know about the Yamaha BW200, which was a precursor to the Yamaha TW200. However, I never before heard of the Yamaha BW80. Thanks for starting this thread! I'm going to enjoy watching you restore this bike.

Well I got it running a bit today, it is fun to ride.

I need lots of things for it like a rear shock, seat cover, hand grips, some carb work and F/R brakes as well as lots of other little things but atleast it is running.

I found a used triple tree on ebay and that is what was needed to be able to ride it since the other one was wiped out.

I may do a vid but the bike is small and I make it look even smaller .

I havnt worked on it since I got it and it has been buried in storage in the mobile shed (enclosed trailer) but being spring time that bike and the xr350 have been moved up to the garage to get worked on.
