The tall saddle is good. I got it for a couple of reasons: It is flatter (front to back) than the OEM saddle. I don't like seats that make me slide forward. I test rode the RX3 with the OEM saddle at the Horizons Unlimited Travelers Meeting and noticed that I was sliding forward, although it was not as bad as the OEM saddle on my F800GS. Also, my knees complain if they are bent too far; the high seat opens that bend. However, I do have shorter legs (I buy 30" or 29" inseam pants) so I am used to not always being able to flat foot at a stop. But, depending on the boots I'm wearing, I can flat foot with this saddle.

I have aux lights on all of my bikes for two reasons; conspicuity and more light on the road. I ride with the aux lights on day and night and have them aimed as low beams. I knew from my other aux lights that I did not need stronger lights for night riding. I do not do nighttime woods or high speed riding. These aux lights provide adequate light although I plan to change the 35W headlight blub to a 55/60W.

For conspicuity from the rear I added a Volo Light. This light is in a license plate frame and uses an accelerometer to activate the bright LEDs. When you let off the gas the taillights in the frame flash, and when you apply the brakes more than gently it flashes faster. It only needs power and ground (from the license plate light).

Also, the lower priced tall saddle is covered with a faux carbon fiber pattern embossed vinyl.

I agree on all points. I mounted some auxiliary lights to illuminate the sides of the bike for turning corners on pavement, and riding dirt roads after dark. I keep them lit at all times for conspicuity.



I just ordered some 10 degree spot lights to supplement the headlight for pavement riding after dark, and additional conspicuity.
