Took a coworker up pagemill to Alice's yesterday. Kicked his ass all the way up to skyline. It was a great feeling because he has been talking smack about my little 200cc bike for weeks (he has a 2006 Kawasaki 636, my dream bike) So I told him we should go ride and once we met up I called him out on talking smack on my bike, after he tried to back peddle his way out of it I attacked his riding saying he is just a douche with a tricked out bike (not in those words of course I have to work with him) however I failed to mention I've been driving this road since I have 14 (I know you get your license at 16 I just couldn't wait that long to start driving) so I know every turn like the back of my hand. This route has very narrow roads with lots of U turns and many blind sharp turns as well very steep and it's been my favorite route for some time now. He didn't know what he was getting into I had him beat the whole time and needless to say things I'm some natural rider, which I know I'm not I just know the route very well. I know now he won't talk smack about my bike anymore.

It's not the tool its the rider. Good on you!
With well over 250,000 miles of riding, and a season of roadracing, and years of riding the canyons of California, my Gold Wing or KLX and I can leave many squids behind in the twisties if we so choose. I'm not a super-rider, just well trained with a lot of experience. Buying a sportbike and then doing all the silly farkle boy racer mods does not a faster, smoother, better rider make. With that said the odds were stacked in your favor on that road. The steeper, tighter, twistier, bumpier the road the better the smaller, lighter, narrower bike will compete. On roads like that horsepower is not much of an advantage.

Unfortunately, off-track fun has no guarantees on road conditions. That said, you're absolutely right! I LOVE pushing the Q through the tight canyon stuff far more than my Vic TC. 8) I can see where a true Super Moto would be a blast.

Go ahead, I can take it.
Looking forward to the pics. Up here in the desert tonight I was able to ride my KLX out of the garage, and onto the trails in about 1/4 mile. I rode 40 miles, 2/3 or so of it off pavement. :P No ocean though.

Ok so here are just a few from my ride today. it was absolutely beautiful, and i've decided to make it a monthly thing. being on the bike makes it so much faster to get to these beautiful places.
(my attempt at being artistic) (i have never seen Northern California water this light blue before, my friend and i were shocked. the picture cannot do it justice) I wish i took a picture of DT Santa Cruz, oh well next time. Silicon Valley usually beautiful with great visibility....NOT today all in all spectacular trip and makes me appreciate even more living in California!!! |

Beautiful pics! I love to see the bikes getting used, they look so much better on the trail than they do in the garage .
