The 450 is still an unknown, but I guess I see how slow the release has been since it's inception and believe/hope/ have heard that is because they had some issues with early versions and wanted to fix them before selling them in mass quantities. Let's hope.
The 450 in their current line of bikes is being used by a few people in racing with decent success. The reason I know the fork internals swap with KYB stuff is because of this. It is just a clone of an early CRF450 engine, but with a few changes to likely not upset the Honda monster. One thing I do know about it is that it is built a bit less high strung, so the servicing is more relaxed.

I was planning on picking one up, but I got my big VFR instead, so it will likely have to wait until next year.

New aluminum sheet dashboard

Decided to get rid of the stock dashboard made of steel... going to use the Trail Tech as my primary source of information. It has proven itself very useful. Wish I could afford the new color version with the buddy tracker system.

Here is my latest attempt...

It's built into my new helmet / camera combo. Gps and full course rendering too. When they get the next revision of the firmware done I'll be able to ride in a complete dust cloud, but HUD will show the course ahead as if it was clear. Gonna be awesome.

I like the USB charger that was integrated in the dash as well. Nice touch.

The gear shift indicator is from Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-6-Speed...72.m2749.l2649

Love, love love when a seller puts the dimensions and good wiring diagrams in their ads!! I wish more would catch onto this!

To catch up as it been a busy few weeks in the shop.

Cutting and grinding on the frame...oh my!

Because I had messed up my original steel subframe (when I tried to get a rivnut out by pounding it through with a chisel like a gorilla), I decided to go aluminum to shave a few pounds and add some stiffness. This was definitely more $$ than a sane person would spend on a Chinabike, but

New aluminium subframe next to stock steel.

BTW- these are much cheaper brand new from online OEM suppliers than what the bike parter guys on Ebay want. Alot of things are I'm finding out.

The subframe mount was too wide, so we cut off the ends

and took a big bite of unnecessary weight out of the middle and painted it up:

Almost installed:

Kickstand

The stock kickstand on the LXR250 is a stout piece. I've used it to lift the bike, pivot the bike and lots of other abusive things. It's only downfall is it's quite a heavy piece of steel.

After looking around for a replacement that would bolt up I kinda gave up and just bought a Trail Tech kickstand for a Honda CR250x/450x. The problem with it is that it is shorter than the LXR's stock kickstand and it mounted a bit differently.

So I took the stock stand off:

And cut off the old stuff that was in the way and welded on the TT Cr250 piece:

Painted it all up:

Shortened the stock spring by about an inch:

And voila!
