No, 31 is correct. I am going to a 13 front 31 rear. I had to order the 31 tooth rear sprocket from the UK.
If I were sticking to a 428 chain, then the 41 tooth would indeed be correct. I think it may be confusing because I used a 39 tooth sprocket to test out gearing combinations with my current 428 chain setup so I could decide what sprocket I wanted to order for the 520 chain setup. Since the sprockets for a 520 chain are larger in diameter for their given teeth counts due to the 520 chain pitch being 5/8", they use fewer teeth. That in itself is probably confusing because why not just order the 31 tooth sprocket? Suffice it to say that I could order the 39 tooth rear sprocket for the 428 chain off of Amazon using gift card cash earned for free as a work perk. The 31 tooth I was considering buying required my own money lol. I was contemplating going taller than even the 17/43 on a stock tire, so I was trying to decide between a 30 or 31 tooth rear sprocket. Hence the 39 tooth experiment. EDIT: Random update. I was going to wait to order the chain, but I came across a DID 520 VX2 X-ring chain with master link for $62 with free shipping. That's 15 bucks less than I paid for my EK O ring chain. Normally this chain would be around $100...The catch is, it's 120 links... Guess I don't have to worry about it being too short lol.

I planned on doing that over the winter as a project. Waiting to hear back about some dyno time now that the season is winding down so I can baseline it, and then I will get started.

Yea, your show was about to get canceled. Waiting on the new improved megadan head and carb season.

Maybe not cancelled, but the Goldwing network decided to put out it's own show.

Well, it will either be a quick show or a marathon depending on what i find. I am going to take the opportunity to do a little touching up and polishing as well as replace the water pump for a metal impeller unit and do the timing belts with an upgrade to the tensioners.

I must have broke a black cats mirror after crossing it's path under a ladder. First my Goldwing takes a dump, then my Jeep's passenger side hub and axle u-joint start making noise, and then I Gently lay my bike over, and the subsequent pressure cracked the tab mounts for the tank plastic on the right side and broke one of my turn signals.
So I am trying to epoxy the tank plastics together and I have the OEM turn signals on the front until I can get a new set in. I am also riding with a bare tank. I have to admit, I really love the look of it, but I sure wish there was a tank that was just smooth to take it's place. I would gladly put one on.

It always comes in threes so you should be good to go now that you got that out the way. The Permatex Black Plastic Welder works great. I broke off one of the tabs that holds the cross bar the 1st time I removed the tank. I forgot to remove the bolt. Opps. That was 11 months ago and still holding strong.

When I 1st got my Hawk I thought about leaving the plastic off the tank and grind and fill where all the tabs are to make the tank smooth. But glad I didn't because now that plastic serves a purpose for the oil cooler.

Yeah, and I have been kicking around an idea on a dual cooler set using 2 similar units to the one you have using my own creative bracketry to place one on each side. So, really I need to keep the tank plastics. I would need to relocate the horn and cut off its mounting tab, but otherwise doable.
The only real debate I am having with this idea is to either, A -use 2 coolers linked in series, or B - One that cools the main supply, and the other a valve cover atyle to specifically target the head and valves. Overkill, maybe, but I like overkill...and symmetry lol. Combined their capacity would be a bit less than 1 large cooler sold in those kits.

I like the idea of the duel coolers. I personally would run them in a series. The reason I didn't go with the valve cover type was I didn't want to have to deal with the hoses every time I adjusted the valves. It's tight enough already getting the valve cover off and on. The single coolers makes a big difference already. My oil doesn't get black so you know it's keeping the temps down. Two isn't overkill, it's extra protection lol. I thought of doing the same. I thought about ordering about 10 kits to get another cooler then selling the rest on here to help pay for mods on the Hawk. I just have to contact the seller and see what the shipping will cost. I just haven't figured where to relocate the horn. Seems like an easy solution until you start trying to place it somewhere were it doesn't interfere with something else. lol

A cheap plastic welder from HF and a bag of plastic filler rod is a wonderful thing, when you own a China bike. You'll find ABS, PVC and PP filler rods in the bag. You can literally recreate a missing tab and then shape and drill it to suit.

Black Hawk Down.
Well, I done crashed.
Taking a turn at low speed (12ish mph) and I managed to dip my front wheel into a sneaky, small, but very deep pot hole mid turn. Violent enough to bend my front rim well out of shape and destroy about 12 spokes. I got bucked like a high side as the bars got wrenched out of my hand. Thankfully I landed in nice soft grass, except for my knee and ankle that hit the curb. Nothing broken on me. Surprisingly, aside from the wheel, nothing majorly damaged on the Hawk, but it definitely needs some work now. So much for my dyno plans. I will still port the head, but it looks like I might have to wait until spring to do the dyno and other stuff. Oh well... I guess my bad luck wasn't quite over yet.
