Found a distributor list for Acewell Gauges if anyone might have a project bike that needs 1 or just looking for a possible upgrade. Plenty of other options than my 3701 unit.

Cluster bracket
Received the 12v voltmeter/USB port adapter today so could go about finishing the digital dash, key ignition, gearshift indicator and USB port aluminium bracket.
Had to wait as I wanted to get all the holes drilled out on the flat before making the 2 bends. Didn't want to end up blinding myself looking at the gauges in direct sunlight so squeezed some remaining paint from the spray cans...The Black pearl decided to cough up a lung on the second coat...opted to just leave it and pardon the pun 'gloss over it'. This is all hand fab with a jigsaw. step drill bits and a rotary/dremel tool...no fancy cnc here. trying to get this project in a running roadworthy inspection state soon... The wuflu is making waves here in Aus and hoping to get the bike registered before any lockdowns probably occur. Last edited by XLsior; 09-10-2021 at 03:52 PM. |

Aesthetically functional.
Not show room paint... it chips and flakes easily. But the frame is rust treated so shouldn't fall apart anytime soon.
this bike is more of a function project, good looks are a bonus. Anyway the bracket fits and I think there is enough clearances, especially for the front brake cable under shock compression. The gear indicator is just a generic AliX offering...used a rubber grommet to hold it...getting it installed damaged the paint...not much I could do about it... Touched up and loose install. more wiring and I think it might actually be ...Complete? |

Awesome build mate! Just read through all of it. I’m expected to receive my CG250 motor today actually! Placing it in my 1977 CT125. Similar to the XL and TL125. My CT was only sold for one year here in the US but primarily in your territory actually! I’m sure I’ll have a lot of frame work to do. Thanks for going over things as well. My biggest hurdle I think will be the damn wiring. Seems to be the common ticket with these swaps! Hope you’re enjoying the bike.

Found a photo of a 1977 ct125...I think getting a CG250 will be a bit more intensive compared to the xl185 with a open frame and bash-plate. That chain guard on the Ct125 is neat...but might hamper sprocket options? Good luck with the project Moto1204, embrace the struggle. |

An Indication of things to come
Sorting out the indicator relay circuits.
1 digital led flasher unit (orange box) and 2 mini 4 pin relays. Seems Honda was future thinking where to put them so i took advantage of this little black box. The Lamp bucket does look like a crowded rats nest...hoping it will all fit in there. Bit of trimming back should help. Yep that's where the horn ended up... |

I already have the first option covered.
Second option might be a side hustle depending on how the parts shift. However I doubt I'll break even on this parts bike and i'd rather keep room for the first option then get buried in the second. |

Good stuff, bomb disposal is quite fun actually. Picked it up a few years back! I need to wire in my speedo as well. I have a KOSO speedo lying around I took off another bike some time ago. I’ll need to get it wired up! Currently just using my phone gps.
