Thanks for the info. I will try to figure it out. I did have an email conversation with Mo, and he does not feel my diagnosis is correct. I just know that when I put the original back in, it fires on both cylinders.

Been gone for a long time, been to dog gone busy! I have never been able to find a reliable CDI for this bike, the Hensim 250 Baja whatever. I have received several wrong ones and still have them. The original works until the ambient temp gets over 85. Then it starts to miss fire. Any of you got a reliable source for accurate parts. The ones I have received, look identical, but they are only for a one cylinder, I have two. It starts and runs, but only one cylinder fires. Runs good on the original when it is not hot.

Never did do any tranny work, I just baby it and get by.

If u can't finds the suitable one in states, buy via agents in China (There's successful story in Enduro board from a Australian guy)

One of the invention by CHEAP roadside mechanic in bike's motherland that stocks Generic parts ONLY : a wire that shares the SAME signal from Pickup coil & 2 "generic" DC-CDI (the bigger that had extra red wire) to each ignition coil :wink:

Google Chrome's "auto translate" will gives u some idea.
btw Chinese isn't that hard . You can guess by appearance 并 (side by side) 列 双 (dual) 缸 as that picture in AC-CDI.

I have ordered many parts for my Baja Phoenix 250 from the net. There are several sites that stock parts for them. What you have to do is search by engine code (253fmm) when you're looking for engine parts. Also Google for Honda Rebel 250 parts. The engine is a clone of the Rebel 250 engine. This engine was also used in the Honda Nighthawk 250. You can also google Baja Phoenix PX250. Another bike that shares this engine is the Jinlun JL250P.

I have modified my Baja PX250 by hacking off the restrictive mufflers and adding 12" Emgo slip-ons, added a Emgo pod filter in place of the airbox, rejetted from a 98 to a 137.5 main jet and replaced the stock 32 tooth rear sprocket with a Honda Rebel 30 tooth. My stock speed was ~70mph. After the mods, top speed is ~87mph. I'm currently down for a blown head gasket. I have the gasket set, just gotta make time to replace them.

Like katoranger mentioned earlier with the link to the Rebel forum, Honda changed the wiring of later Rebels where one wire from the cdi goes to a kick-stand safety interlock. All you have to do on your bike is clip the non-firing cylinder cdi-to-coil wire and splice it into the wire going to the firing cdi-to-coil wire. Tape off the unused output from the cdi. It will not be used. This will have the bike firing both cylinders simultaneously, albeit on different strokes. There are two separate firing events for both cylinders, one is wasted during the exhaust stroke while the other is on the ignition stroke. Mine is set up this way with no issues. Well, except for the blown head gasket! Ha!

I know everyone knows this but do I check the oil level with the dip stick in all the way or sitting on the opening? I am referring to my Hensim Baja

All Hondas and Honda clones I'm aware of you check it without screwing the dipstick in. :wink:

Thanks for the info, I found it low today, and thought maybe that is where is was supposed to be. Now I have to figure out why it is low. Good to hear from you again!

OK finally got a new correct CDI and it works! I also have the proper oil level thanks to Doc. I do have one problem that is my fault. I left old gas in this unit since last summer and it sat in the carburetor, and now I have a running issue. It will start, but I cant give it fuel or it will kill. I need to choke it and leave the choke on and it starts up no problem, fires on both cylinders, but if I try to accelerate the throttle, it kills. When I restart it runs great for one second and then slows down to a slow idol.

I assume my problem is a gummed up carb, if I am right, how do I clean it? I have drained all the old gas, and the float is not stuck, as I can drain gas by opening the drain screw.
