The Baja 5b is getting bigger..

In the bottom pic the right side has been extended a half inch. Now on to the rear wheels.

Wheelie bar and glass pack installed. You wouldn't believe how much work the wheelie bar was. It predates the latest performance exhaust pipe and the newer models usually have dual exhaust if it comes with the wheelie bar. So this meant alot of bending and tweaking brackets to get it on there.

Well lastnight I got the rear hub extensions on so now she's an inch wider. Note to self, get some blue loctite, I had to use my 1/2 impact to get the wheels off. The wheel nuts are 24mm! Speaking of loctite, I might have to put some on my shock preload adjusters, the right side just back themselves off as it sits there idling.

I also got the 19/55 spur and pinion installed and swapped the clutch bell housing bearings which took most of the play out of the pinion gear. Today I'm gonna work on the brake linkage mod and probably do some trimming on the rear wing to make room for the muffler. The high today is only 24° so I'm glad I got something to keep me busy.

Not sure how much overlap there is between the nitro and electric evaders, but do you want a big box of spare parts?

picked up a bunch of stuff off ebay and another forum today... all rc boat parts... a race ported 23cc engine and a bunch of random stuff like clutch, pipe, mounts etc(minus crank and ignition), ignition, exhaust flange, header, and pipe saver, water cooling parts, etc...

fun note on the race ported engine, traded a bunch of leftover chainsaw parts i had laying around for that... the rest came off ebay... just need a crank for a g230pum and i should be in business aside from maybe a few screws and i need to figure out a pipe mount for the stinger end...

1/16 crawler

Wpl C24 4x4 Toyota crawler and sitting next to it is the all steel/aluminum version. I've got to swap over the body, electronics (ESC, reciever, and steering servo). After that I'll finish the body decals, turn signals and taillights, snorkel, door handles, wipers and mirrors, running boards and license plates. I also got 2 larger capacity Lipo batteries for it

Banggood.com is definitely worth checking out, chinese hobby grade RCs (mostly 1/16, 1/12 and 1/10 scale) for dirt cheap with lots of upgrades available for each model. The list of upgrades available for this little crawler is astonishing. The downside is shipping, anywhere from 10 to 25 days. And they're not cheap Chinese junk, this is my 3rd so far and they seem to hold up better than their more expensive counterparts. Cousin Allen has been bashing his for a year now and hasn't had to fix or replace anything.

The base model C14 is only $43 but it's got a smaller 130 motor and doesn't have proportional steering, and doesn't have enough power to actually "crawl" (basically a toy). The next step up is the C24 for $56 and it has proportional steering and a bigger 160 motor that will crawl. I paid $78 for mine because it comes with 2 additional lipo packs that run longer than the standard. Then add $12 for shipping and it came to a whopping $90 lol. And almost everything they sell is RTR.

Now the all metal version I bought in addition was a little pricey at $168 but it is sweet and adds a significant amount of weight, which if you know anything about small scale crawlers is a good thing. The lighter ones tend to bounce and hop rather than climb. I'm also gonna get some actual soft crawler tires and add lead shot to the front ones. The next step is the 2 speed transmission kit. It comes with the 3 channel radio, servo and gearbox. And comes with the big 370 motor which has the torque for ultra slow crawling and hill braking. I'll probably upgrade the steering servo as well.

I've been down this road before and spent $600 on a 1/10 scale that had all the goodies, 4 wheel steering, rear dig, hill braking, etc. But I was so disappointed with that POS, the driveshafts would pop off at extreme angles and sometimes the CV joints would pop out. Spent more time working on it than crawling.

I've been flying again. Need to finish swapping that 15cc over that's replacing a 70 nitro. My slash's haven't been touched in over a year. Rc track might be getting some life next spring so maybe that will Change.

Well I ordered all the upgrades I previously mentioned except the steering servo, because apparently the stock servo is more than adequate according to the fb groups.

3 channel radio and receiver
2 speed transmission with the big 370 motor and servo
20 amp ESC with hill braking for brushed motor
Add on inline adjustable hill brake (works when ESC is switched to brake mode)
Super soft crawler tires and rims that are taller and wider

And here's the kicker.. all that with shipping and tax came to $87!! Who says this has to be an expensive hobby.
