Weld is good for bringing me back to earth and I love him for that.

I'm pretty settled in and it's a decent fit. I can post some pics in the Moderator's forum sometime soon.

Next little project with the YZ is to repaint the worn areas of the frame. I have the special ordered paint already but have not had the time.

Ditto. (one car garage with WAY too much junk crammed in LoL)
I am likely going to spend some of my inheritance on a larger shop.

A man needs a place to work, especially in a northern climate.

Amen to that. I have an attached double garage and a shed, and they're both full. I've got lots on my plate and little room to do it in; I've gotta thin the herd soon.

No more effective way to thin the herd than to move.

At any rate last night I 'finished' The Beast!

The last thing I wanted to do that was bugging me (OCD  ) was repainting the boot-worn areas on the frame.

I stripped off the necessary parts, cleaned it up real well, masked it off and primed and repainted the areas with a Color-Rite special mixed perfect match .

It took (wasted  ) two hours but looks good.

Now with fresh paint, plastics, and graphics, and everything else either being new or in good nick the bike looks (and runs) quite excellent.

Will take pics soon. Got too busy last night. Linda wanted to take the Vette out for pizza and beer. How could I say no? 8)

Do you plan to install plastic frame protectors in that spot?

It already has very nice billet aluminum guards but they were placed over the worn areas and rust was forming on the bare metal.

I cleaned and replaced the guards.

While I was at it I chose to repaint/brighten up the rest of the frame.

Since I've never had experience with frame guards, I wonder if it would be prudent to apply some form of barrier over the steel before installing the guards. Since they're aluminum, I wonder if there's a reaction taking place. Maybe even a light film of grease would do the trick.

As long as it is painted you should be fine as to the reaction. I used to zip tie thin aluminum sheet onto the frame of My MX and trials bikes and I never had an issue.

Good thoughts guys!

It's well primed and painted I think it should stay good indefinitly.

I hope to get some pics to share with you all soon. Suffice it to say the bikes looks and rides excellently. I feel It's worth what I have into it. That helps my OCD!

Some pics of the 'finished' project:

Close up of the right side of engine.

The left.

The bigger picture.

Simple graphics which I prefer.

.99 cent eBay Chinese hour meter. Works good!

Inductive sensing wire on spark plug lead.

Some pics of the new garage for those who were interested.

By giving away and throwing out A LOT of stuff, plus storing a lot of other stuff in the hanger I made it all fit OK. I am grateful for the home and garage.

It will look nicer with an epoxy or rubber tile floor and after I install the lighting I want. 8)

The shop looks great, Doc. It looks like you have a raised ceiling section over the 'Vette that will allow you to install hooks for lifting bikes.

Your Yamaha is far too pretty to ride now.

The ceiling is about 18" higher on that side. It does help. The bicycle is lifted on a clever little rope and pulley system that works well.

I'm grateful for the shop. As long as I keep it clean and organized and don't but anything new without getting rid of something old I should be good.

My ATV is in Ron's shop. I think I'll be selling it at the end of the summer though.

We got 1/10" of rain last night and it's cool and overcast today. We have not had any rain in some time. PERFECT riding conditions. 8)

Hopefully Roger and I will get out there and muddy up that clean bike! :P
