You're welcome, George. It is normal for the drive chain to drip lubricant. If the drive chain is not dripping a little lubricant, it is probably too dry!

I doubt the gasket on your left crankcase cover is leaking oil. However, if you do need to replace the gasket, it is a simple, inexpensive job. If necessary, you can replace the gasket with either a Yamaha, or a Zongshen gasket.

Agreed.

My XS400 does that. Chain lube accumilates and drips a thick slimy black goo on the garage floor. About 2-3 drops and that's it. Yesterday I removed the countershaft cover to confirm that's all it was and I was right. No problem.

My GS1100 did it too, as does my GS750. Nature of the beast.

After checking the engine and got some photographs below what do you think?
where the back end bolts have some oil and the chain is dry.
I do not know what to think maybe a more experienced eye can see better

also is better to wash the bike in order to see clearly if it leaks.

Good pics, but I'm still not sure.

I'd remove the cover, clean the area very well (brake or carb cleaner, watch your eyes) and see what's up. Once it's clean you'll be able to tell where it's coming from.

I don't know, George. The area is too dirty to determine the source of the oil. However, I am inclined to believe the oil is coming from your drive chain.

Nevertheless, I agree with FastDoc. If you want to positively determine the source of the oil, I think you need to clean the entire area thoroughly, and then inspect the engine for the source of the leak.

If you wish to pursue this course, you will need to drain the engine oil, and remove the entire left crankcase cover. Therefore, while the cover is off, I suggest you perform the left crankcase cover modification shown in the following thread. I would also suggest you buy a new gasket.

http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...ewtopic&t=7559

After you section the left crankcase cover, you can more easily inspect, and replace the countershaft sprocket. Drive chain maintenance will also be simpler after this mod. In addition, after the modification you will find it much easier to inspect the gear shifter oil seal, and the countershaft oil seal for leaks.

Is your bike leaking oil from the countershaft seal? Please do keep us updated, George.

After months of waiting and checking all possible reasons, we manage to reduce the leakage to 1 or 2 drops.

One way was leaking was from the cylinder head top covers, we reinforce it with flange glue and stop that one.

The second reason we suspect is the overflow, maybe it passes some oil because after driving with high speed and about 8 miles is dropping , when it travels with low speed and short distance does not drop.

anyway i'll keep you update

I'm glad you resolved the problem, George. If oil is leaking from the valve covers, you need to replace the valve cover O-rings. These O-rings, and several other O-rings in the Yamaha/Zongshen engine will deteriorate over time from exposure to hot engine oil. You can replace the Zongshen O-rings with O-rings manufactured for the Yamama, TW200 motorcycle. I also stock, and sell a complete set of O-rings for the Zongshen engine, including O-rings for the valve covers, oil filter cover, oil filter cover bolt, engine drain plug, and camshaft sprocket cover. My O-rings are much less expensive than Yamaha O-rings.

just for your information to close this mess, the left cover was the problem, it did not touch completely in a point with a new flange and some carter glue (is stronger than flange glue) it a proper motorcycle. im very happy that it is fixed finally!
