Heading for the mountains again! Life is AWESOME!

Heading off to the Washington Cascade Mountains tomorrow to do some serious trail riding. Stay posted for pics.

Q's got a new giant dirt-spec Dunlop knobbie. I need all the help I can get!

Q and I just got back, will post a few pics later. We both had a great time and neither one of us sustained and damage.

This time I rode with some experienced friends on high performance machines and I absolutley could not keep up at all :( . They were forever waiting on me. Partly because of Q but mostly my mediocre riding skills. :?

The route was a 20 mile trail up into the mountains, all single track and almost every inch is technical. Stream crossings, steep side hills, rocks, roots, a little mud here and there. Very steep on the downside. I was not able to do the trail in reverse, although I tried. I got stuck a couple of times and decided to go the other way to the gravel road and back to the cabin that way.

So I wimped out a bit but I had a great time and was safe.

I think I need a CRF....

80 degrees and no clouds with unlimited visibility. The views of Mt. Rainier were spectacular. Unfortunatly I hardly had a chance to stop and take pictures, like I say I was Tail End Charlie!

I doubt that your skills are mediocre. Q isn't exactly an optimized woods bike.

A CRF would be nice. An old XR is fun to toss around as well (1996 to 2004). Quarter litre is all you really need.

I do NOT like going down. (keep your minds out of the gutter, team)

I'd wimp out and take the easy way down too. No shame in that.

I don't remember the source..."It's more fun to ride a 'slow' bike fast, than a 'fast' bike slow."

I never liked the down-hill runs much, either.
Glad you had fun and got back safe. Looking forward to the pics.

riding sweep isnt that bad, as long as you had fun riding
as for the downhills, just point and go works for me

you should be able to plate a CRF450X there

Thanks for posting the great photos, Doc. I think both you, and your XP200, did a good job keeping completing the ride with the bigger, much more expensive motorcycles!

P.S. I don't blame you for taking the gravel road descent; I would have done the same.

I don't remember the number offhand but its a Bridgestone off road only intermediate terrain tire.

120/90-18. It clears the chain by about 1/8". 8O
