My Lifan GY 200 - 2

Hello everyone.

Here is what I like about my Lifan GY 200-2:

I love the suspension. The inverted forks are really nice.
I haven't been gunning it or anything but I rode on some trails and
it glides over rough terrain. It climbs hills like that was it's only
purpose too. No doubt that has a lot to do with the large rear sprocket.
I counted 41 teeth. I would like to get a 36 tooth if it will fit over the
hub. I found a place on the net who can custom make them but they want
me to send them my sprocket. They say the compatibility chart in the
FAQ on this site is not correct. That the sprockets won't fit right.

The front and rear hydraulic disk brakes are nice too. No mechanacle
linkage from the brake pedal to the rear brake. That means there is
nothing there to start rattling in 5 years.

If you like, please check out these pictures I took of my bike:

Comments are welcome.

Thankyou

Nice looking bike MP, just 1 question, you mentioned that you had a 41 tooth sprocket, nobody on this site has ever mentioned a 41 tooth STOCK sprocket, you may be the chosen one... If you can, recount the teeth on your sprocket for us, mark #1 and start counting, I don't think this needs explanation, 41t is not a large rear sprocket in fact it is a very small sprocket for these bikes...Great looking bike and very nice pics, don't see alot of newer GY-2's with the inverted forks on here...

What size is your front sprocket??

That looks like the GY 2 our biz has excpet ours is Yellow/Blue.
I'm quite certain your rear sprocket is 56 tooth. Looks rather large. Our GY 2 has a 56 and it'll pull a wheelie up no problem - my 5 with a 46 won't. :(

I done a bad bad thing

Thanks for the responses.

First, I didn't really do anything bad.
I can put it all back on.

I took the superflous plastic cover off the gas tank.
Yes, it is pretty but it's totally useless.

Did anyone ever read the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance?

Well the story was about a father and son on a cross country ride.
It goes all into the fathers stream of conciousness as they ride hour
after hour. The ultimate point of his ruminations was his consideration
of what each part of the motorcycle was doing and whether it was required.

Basically it is an examination of the concepts of form vs function.

I didn't really need that book to tell me that the useless piece of plastic
was simply making more vibrations and noise than my good graces
could stand. Once I took it off, everything was good, birds sang, water ran
and I could actually hear the engine. Now, I know that it wasn't really
coming apart at 40 mph, it was just those plastic louvers that sounded
like a Cessna.

It doesn't look too bad with out it either. To my eye it looks better.
But then I'm not getting a lot of points for style these days.

I'll post some pictures when it dries out around here.

Who/What is this place? Beware of internet sites that want you to send them 'stuff'.

Details please. Which make/model in the listing is incorrect? If the listing is inaccurate then I'll be more than happy to update but I need specifics.

Hmmm...and I always thought the extra plastic over the tank was to help prevent an awesome crash from becoming an awesome fiery crash...just a thought.

P.S. I read that book, too!

In Reply to Frostbite about the Sprockets

Hello Frostite,

I did not mean to impune your work. I am happy you have created the
FAQ. It is a valuable service and I commend you for it.

http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/

I spoke with a lady there named Chrysta or Chrystal I think.
Anyway, she's who answers the phone when you call them.

Your best bet is just to get a 40 or 42, I am in the process of getting more in now.
