I had a homemade trailer behind my moped when I was 14; after filling it with bottles from the ditch on the highway, I had enough gas money for a month.

The one pic showed low speed mower tires. I am really wondering the street legally of it.

Good idea. I would need mine alittle better engineered though.

I agree. Also, the price needs to be lower; $445 is a bit expensive. You can almost buy a new Zong for the price of two of these trailers.

That plastic tote is $40 at most home stores etc. I am thinking that a couple of used scooter front wheels would be better suited.

I am sure that the asking price is reasonable considering the materials/labor involved in producing them.

Those of us with skills could build it for much less.

I don't know about the high mount for the hitch. I think it would make handling strange.

I strapped to two electric trailer brake hubs on the back of the lifan. About 120lbs. Don't recommend it. 8O

Something low mount to the swingarm would be better.

It's legal here in Canada, you register it as an Artisanal Trailer, they ask the weight and size, then 65$, and your good to go, the plate is good for life.

It's classified as a motorcycle trailerÂ.

But one thing, i would make it out of aluminum, because weight is very important and it would cost only 20 to 30% more.

If i make one for myself it would cost between 250 and 350$, with the wheels, hub and everything.

2 weels 8" + hub and bearing = 75$

20' of aluminum square tubing 1" x 1/8" x 1" = 74$

4X8' alum Sheet 16gage = 68$ / sheet (need 1 for the box or replace it by a plastic box)

1 stainless steel universal joint = 45$

2 Scooter or dirt bike shock = +/- 20 to 60$ (Used shock is OK)

Bolt and nut +/- 10 to 20$ (Stainless bolt is recommended for aluminum)

Well that is interesting. Money well spent for a lifetime tag. I think its a good idea for low speed use. Makes you 50cc scooter more of a utility vehicle.
