Motocross or DP tires?

I think my stock tires will only last about 1,000 miles, and I'm half way there now. I ride the bike 99% in the dirt, but would also like to use it to commute to work and around town.

I'd kinda like to get aggressive motocross knobbies as almost all of my riding will still be in the dirt, but I wonder if they will be too squirmy on the pavement.

I figure if I had better tires, I would not have biffed the other day and my shoulder would not be sore right now :? .

I have seen some tires (Bridgestones?) that are very aggressive but still street legal. 90%/10% off/on types, but they were pricey.

These may be you ticket. Kenda K760 TRAK MASTER II

80/20 tire. I have not ridden them on the street, but they are priced affordably. Not sure what speeds you ride on the street, but if you are less the 50mph I think it would be okay. Watch out for wet roads.

They ship fast with reasonable costs from there too. You might want to order some spare tubes at the same time.

I think the 110/100-18 fits with no mods and the 120 may need to have the chainguard modded some to fit. No more than a 120 though.

The stocker is about a 105. I would get the 100/100-18 or 110/100-18 and the 80/100-21 for the front.

I just ordered a set of Kenda K760's, 110/100x18 and 80/100x21 on Monday but do not have them yet.

Ordered from Rocky Mountain, i had a bad experience with them back in the late 90's and said i would never order from them again but the current promos were too good to pass up, 10% off if you order two or more tires, a $10 discount if you order $100 or more and shipping is free over $100.

I had good service from Rocky Mountain too.

Both shipped quickly. It is really hard to beat the prices at Americanmototire.

I ordered the tires, heavyweight tubes, and rim strips. I also bought tire irons. I've never changed motorcycle tires before but I figure it's nothing a lot of hard work and cursing can't accomplish. :x

1+ on the rim strips. Mine were so thin they did not want to stay in place. The next time I opened up the back tire, I put a good rim strip on. No problem ligning the hole up for the valve stem.

I usually lay the wheel flat on the ground on a piece of carpet. Make sure the bead is loose from the rim. I put my knees on the tire's sidewall at about 4 0'clock and 8 o'clock. start at the top when taking the tire off and try to finish at the top when putting the tire back on.

Bet there is some good videos on You Tube come to think of it.

Couple of good irons and it is not too bad to change the tires.

I did the front in about 20 minutes on Wednesday.
