Alternative larger fuel tank.

In one of my recent browses through flea bays petrol tanks I came across this:

It's a Hyosung RT125 Karion. It looked about right, and it was!

If you're not a welder you could just drill some fresh holes in the rear mount and twist it to about 30' from the horizontal.

The front mounts drop from the stock tank mountings, I welded a pin for the bobbin (a yamaha item), non welders could improvise with a countersunk bolt?

The tank had no tap, and the original Hongdou tap was too long and fouled the cylinder head. The only Chinese tap I could find at the breakers was this short one, so there's been some careful filing to make it fit.

The finished job, total cost £23 ($35).
Without Googling how big do you think the tank is? It's deceptive.

Jonathan.

The only catch is to find these tanks. I don't think too many Hyosung dirt bikes/enduros came to N. America, but perhaps one could order them from Hyosung, which is still here in N. America.

I wonder if the new Hi-Bird 5 gallon tank, or the Shineray 5 gallon tank will fit the majority of these GY-series bikes. That would be something interesting--the gas would last longer than the bike!!

I can't see anything bigger fitting very easily (or looking "right"), unless you want to start changing the seat as well. There's not much room along the top frame tube.

Jonathan.
