Yea, 2009!!!!! 2+0+0+9=11 and yet 20-09=11 what's the odds?
Don't know what that means but hmmmm, may I'll play the lottery today.

Wife is home over Christmas. I'm supposed to be working on my bike but I've been shopping for toilets, installing toilet, shopping for light fixtures, installing light fixtures. It's been a constant stream of honeydo's. Today is all about the Bike!

I got a wrench set from a neighbor for christmas. 40 years old, 3 metric wrenches, 6 main sizes for my bike 8,10,12,14,17. I've been looking for a long time now. They're tiny, shiny and old, just what I was looking to put in my kit.

The bike is sitting next to me now in the basement. No motor, wheels, fenders, cables, or forks. Today's work is highspeed polishing my fork legs. What a great way to start the New Year.

Have a safe, but fun 2009 folks!

You really do have that thing apart don't you :P

That fork looks great compared to the other one, if I get mine running I may get some polishing pointers from you...

Looks like you may need some new tires too? (or maybe it's just the picture)

Since you guys are talking about polishing the forks, what can I do to get rid of the gold anodized look off the forks of my Gy-5? Everybody that looks at the bike asks me why the forks are gold, really don't have an answer.

Ya, that's just the picture. The tires are Bridgestone Spitfire's. They should be good for the entire season. Lots of tread left. Metzler's or Avon's next. I sized down the pic because I'm on dialup. My camara takes 4-6megabite pics. About 4-5 times larger view, but MANY times larger size and quality. That's about an hour on dial-up :?

New rims, spokes, wheel bearings and rubber grease seals. Polished hubs, and forks, and wheel spacers, new fork seals. Frame welds. 0.25 re-bored motor, new everything inside. Mikuni carbs. I'm not building for selling, I'm building for riding. It's a 72, but electronic ignition, and updated rectifier. Actually there are a lot of invisible upgrades.

The race carbs are a bear to tune. Mikuni vm32-33's, Sportingforless on ebay. Comes with primary choke and not emulsion tubes. Main jets are easy to get and switch, but the correct needle and needle jets are where the sticking point is. Different throttle twist, and throttle cable too. I'm gonna try to keep it looking stock-ish, while making it run more like a cafe racer. A 2009 cafe racer. I'm not happy unless I'm being different

If there are any Members who are Mikuni specialists (knowing the difference between primary choke and emolsion tubes) and have the time to give me a hand, please give me a PM. I think one is for 2 stroke and the other 4 stroke. Giving too rich a mix, at high sustained throttle. But hey I'm no pro.
