2022 KPR200 dies on downshift

Anyone else have an issue like this? Just received my Lifan KPR200 and been breaking it in for a week now. During every ride, there's at least one occasion where I'm going from a higher gear down to one for a stoplight (for example) and, in one of the gears, the engine just dies instantly.

I never release the clutch as I move down the gears and the engine stop is so instant, it's almost like it's electrical.

It's not every time I downshift, but definitely happens during every ride.

Ideas?

That’s no way to start out, I’m sorry to hear your having troubles already! I’ve not had that happen even one time. What rpm is your bike idling at? Did you do a valve clearance adjustment yet? Does it seem to happen more when the engine is fully warmed up?

Thanks for your response, herbie.
It idles SMOOTHLY at 1500rpm

I have a healthy respect for tearing apart engines so I haven't checked the valve clearance yet...though it does sound "slappy" down there. I need to put on my big boy pants and just YouTube it. I mean...do it.

Warm or cold doesn't seem to matter from an engine standpoint. I would say I rode to work this morning and the outside temp was much cooler than it has been and it didn't stall once.

I'll check that clearance and report back. Long weekend...lots of opportunity. Thanks again!

Here's a link to the service manual that might help. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/02...f?v=1636701098

Take a look at the sticky above on my KPR 200, look at page 2 it’ll give you a couple of pictures to help. My exhaust valve clearance was almost nothing. Also I would invest in a Ngk iridium plug, the number is in my signature line. The bike comes with an NGK plug but it’s cheap insurance and your welcome. Hope it works out for you! Also check out page 1 that shows the gas tank and the mounts for the fairing.

A few questions... Does it always happen between the same gears, or does it change? Is there any chance you are kicking the side stand down a bit when you shift occasionally? Could there be a short in the side stand switch? Saying it feels like an electrical stall makes me wonder if there is something shorting as you slow or clutch. Any chance the kill switch on the bar has issues? Those are just a few things that came to mind. You could bypass the side stand switch and see if that ends your problem, though make sure you don't take off with the stand down!
Hope you can find the issue. That sounds like no fun.

So, I ordered the Iridium plug and have studied the valve gap instructions. Didn't get to it this weekend. But am ready. Def next weekend.

LOVE the question on the kickstand, but it's nested nicely out of the way and is tight and this bike doesn't seems to have a kickstand kill. It's been all different gears. Sometimes going into 1 from N at a stop. Sometimes 3 going from 6 to N coming to a stop. It's weird.

I like the handlebar kill switch idea too. Wouldn't have thought of either of those.

What I've done so far is changed the oil, tried to re-seat all the wire harnesses/wires (maybe should have been obvious on a newly shipped bike), put premium gas in and put a splash of injector cleaner in the tank.

Fingers crossed...I've ridden 4 times (leave, come back, leave come back) and it hasn't stalled once. I'm hoping maybe this is some break in glitch or something. I know that's wishful thinking, but...I'll report back after the plug change, valve clearance adjustment and MORE RIDING!!!

Thanks, guys!
