Brozz 250 Shift Shaft Play

I have started having a lot of clatter coming from the front sprocket. I replaced the front sprocket with a JT, because I thought the sprocket might have worn. Well, it’s a little more snug now. What I did notice was there seemed to be a lot of play in the drive shaft. What is the tolerance on play for it?

I’ll not sure about the shaft play.
But are you sure that noise you heard wasn’t from a stretched out chain? The Brozz stock chains are notorious for this. I just replaced the chain on my Recon with an aftermarket unit.

There is quite a bit of movement on the front sprocket if you grab it and move it side to side. I used to think this was odd and i did fix mine on my Brozz so it wouldn't move anymore. Strange thing is that I now have a 92 Honda XR250 and its front countershaft sprocket has the same movement in it, so I guess it's normal.

I have a X-Ring chain on it. It’s adjusted with about .63” slack. The front sprocket that I took off has a shiny ring around one side of it, just under the teeth.
