Nice progress on your build. Have you thought about maybe going to a larger tank rather than an add on one? Acerbis ones are pretty pricey but Clark seems to be cheaper. We know that Spud has had one on his Zong for quite a while now with no complaints. Not sure what would fit but as the Hawk (and it's brothers? cousins?) is based on a Honda, there should be one that fits.

I did a cursory search and really didn't come up with anything that looked like it would fit. The Honda the hawk is a copy of was never sold in the US. Its much easier to just plumb in an aux tank, there pretty cheap, less than a $100.

Nice job on the seat. I really like how it turned out.

Have you considered using a camel tank on the side? Similar to this https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/13...g?v=1504617174

It would leave the area behind the seat open for a rack and luggage and soft bags/panniers could still be used on the sides.

I have a Camel tank on my CRF and can tell you it's a great piece of kit. Little out of my price range for a budget build. I may fab up something that will mount on the side. I remember seeing somewhere where a number plate tank was mounted on the side.

Been poking along with the build. Got my ne shock installed, battery box and rear fender fitted as well as a digital dash I was originally going to install bon my CRF. Also got the wiring harness reworked and got my new bars on. Oh yeah, the 520 chain upgrade is done, thanks Dan

Anyone know where I can get the gear sensor that's located beneath the countershaft sprocket. During teardown, all the wires disintegrated during removal.

As far as the gear position switch, you can always give a TT250 unit a try. The price is definitely low enough that if it doesn't match you won't be out much.
http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/TT250-...p/zt50-114.htm

I have seen different types of switches in my search, and I have never taken my Hawk's unit out, so I have nothing to match it to from personal experience.

As far as the rear shock goes. Is that one of the universal "adjustable" units I have found on Aliexpress under the name Keoghs? If so, let me know how you like it. I have been seriously considering getting one, but I am not sure if I want to pull the trigger on it.

Oh, and what is that rear fender off of? Kind of a universal drt bike rear fender?

Hey Mark,

Where did you get the shock that you installed on your Hawk?

I met you at the 2016 Horizon's Unlimited event in Appomattox, VA. The subject of Hawks came up and I remarked, "Yeah, there's this crazy guy on ChinaRiders.net whose' planning to ride his to Argentina". You smiled and replied to the effect of, "Yep. That's me".

Glad to see that you made it back from South America (-:

I've since sold my V-Strom 650 and rely solely on my Hawk for 2-wheeled motor transport. As you know the stock shock is a spine compressor )-:

Looking forward to your reply,

Corry

Stay tuned b
Cant wait to see the end result.
