Sorry about the jeep. We get very attached to them.
-To me, anything with air conditioning is a luxury vehicle. The Versa looks like the right tool for the job.

I have been debating just tucking it away somewhere to come back to it later. It needs a lot of love. I have to decide if I want a project vehicle or not is what it really boils down to. If I do keep it, I am going to do an engine swap and axle upgrades, among other things, and turn it into an overlander rig.

Took a while to get up here from Wichita, but here it is. The unfaithful one in the background.

How desireable is a 4.0L 5spd 4x4 Comanche? I posted it for sale at 1AM for $1500 with partial cash trades and a project bike. By 5AM I have 7 people with 7 different offers.

One is a guy who had one as his first car and wants one to restore. He made an actual cash offer close enough to what I was asking that I accepted and he is coming to pick it up today.

Another guy wants to trade me for an 88 KLR650 that looks pretty nice in the pictures.

Next guy has a 79 KM-100 and offered some cash on top.

Another has an XR400 of unspecified year, looks a bit beat up but he says it runs good (tempting).
Two guys that didn't make an offer and just asked the stupid question of "what is the least you will take?" I hate these guys, but I have always had a great answer for them - whatever the best offer is or otherwise the asking price. Never heard back from them.

The latest guy is one of the "you are asking too much" types offering me $600, even though my Comanche is already the lowest price in the area (By more than $500), the only manual trans 4.0L and the only 4x4 4.0L within a 200 mile radius.

A part of me is sad to see it go. Then I remember the headaches, frustration, and many busted knuckles. In another life with unlimited funds and a proper sized garage I may have fixed it up, but I would rather see it go to somebody that has more time and ambition than I do.

Hell, I could have come up with that 1,500 buckaroos you were asking for a Jeep badged Truck... I even have a spare 4.0l Jeep engine sitting around I could have tossed right in

I figured it would have been priced like other Trucks in my area... out here you are looking at 3k or more for a "non running rust bucket, 4x4 Truck"...

Here in Nebraska, trucks are a dime a dozen. You can get a solid, decently running, complete older truck at the drop of a hat for fairly cheap.

I did not realize that it was a @#$%in Comanche! This part of Texas has a lot of Jeep fanatics. It may be worth it to advertise the Comanche on craigslist in Houston.

Tons of jeepers here too. It sold in less than half a day.

In the end I essentially broke even. I bought it back in 2009 for $400. Rebuilt the head, replaced the water pump and radiator, new fuel pump and had the injectors rebuilt, fixed the CPS and a bunch of wiring issues and then found, rebuilt, and swapped in an ax15 and NP231 from the junkyard. Recently put in a new alternator and rebuilt the steering box when it was removed to repair the frame where it was mounted. If I added all of that up, it would probably be right at about $1500.

Could I have sold it for more? Maybe. I just wanted it gone, so I priced it low, but fair.

I just gotta say I have a cvt transmission in my 10 Altima and so far been great.... I have 100k on it and runs like a top..... but they have bad reps.... i did a complete fluid swap on it and drive very conservatively because it’s cheaper 😉👍 and it helps cars be more reliable to... I like the idea of a sedan that’s full manual.... +1 on that
