combination for a heavy ADV bike...

It seems like the wrong way round for a go anywhere bike, right? Thought the DRZ motor has the same ratio, which surprised me.
Maybe it's a reliability or vibration mitigation measure? Less stress with the shorter stroke? I'm really curious to r ead an in-depth feature on it.
