Rhino 250 oil sight glass

Just got a rhino a few days ago. Drained the massage oil out before starting and put in about a quart of Rotella 15w40. The sight glass was at high and dipstick was a hair over full. Ran it at idle for 10 minutes and put it away for the night.

The next day when I went to start it the sight glass was empty. Dipstick was still a hair over full. Added maybe 1/2oz of oil and the sight glass was back to full. Idled for 10 minutes and the sight glass is back to empty. Dipstick is still hair over full.

Is this normal?

Sight glass

I never reliad on the sight glass.... there is a pocket for the oil to go into so it reads... next time you change the oil take the cover off and see... lean the bike to the side.... up against a wall or some thing... and it will keep some oil in it ,,, and check the sight glass.. see how it is.. do you self a favour ... check the dipstick always... I thought it had oil never is a good rule.... you can run out of gas ... but not oil.... my dad always said/

I never noticed. Now I have to look on my Rhino.
Could possibly be that an air pocket gets caught there and if it was a motorcycle instead of a quad, a simple lean side to side would clear it.
That would be my guess.
