Do it right the first time!
Replaced a bike tube for the first time in 1961. 56 years later for the first time ruined a new tube during install. First time for everything. Ordered a 100/90-19 tube from American Mototire and they sent a 120 to 140 tube and it was a bit clumsy. Went to Abernathy's yesterday and requested a 100/90-19 tube. Got home and noticed the numbers on the box were 2.75 to 3.00, which converts to 80 to 90 cross section. Too small. No wonder I don't like doing business with Abernathy's. Again. Now I have a really good reason to head out for a couple hundred miles of country 2-lanes to find a tube.

It's really easily done. I didn't for the first three changes on my bike, then on the fourth I managed it.
Overconfident with the tyre irons, not enough pressure in the tube to keep it pinching, and a lot of time wasted. It happens! |

I can always tell when I'll pinch a tube because the install went perfectly. Those are usually the ones I mess up. If I fight with it for hours, never a problem.

I noticed the aftermarket tubes seem a little more forgiving than the stock ones

I think I bought the heavy duty IRC tubes they are definitely tougher than the stock and not very expensive
