Thoughts from any others who might have already tackled the Magician 250 kickstand kill switch? You would think there would be a simple way to override the kickstand kill switch?

You have two options either the switch opens the circuit wires not touching or the switch closes a circuit wires touching. You just need to figure out if you need to have the wires put together or separated to bypass the switch. Real easy have them separated and see if it will start if it does you are done. If it does not then solder the wires together and shrink wrap it and call it good.

Brozz, yes, agree. Although not OCD, I like to keep things in order. I was hoping to remove the kickstand kill switch. But, given it is, on my cycle, almost welded on with rounded off phillips-head screws... I may have to simply clip the wires, as you suggest, and take it from there.

Is this true as it doesn't make sense. If true, you would always have to be sitting on the bike to start it.

It makes perfect sense from a "safety" standpoint. You have to be on the bike to start it, meaning your hands are at the controls with your weight on the bike, just in case it is in gear. Many Japanese bikes have come with kickstand switches too.

My solution to overriding / defeating the Magician 250 kickstand kill switch... (Ordered an impact screwdriver on ebay (since I did not have one) and needed to back out the two "rounded off" Phillips head screws.) Backed out the two Phillips heads... which allowed the kickstand kill switch to back off of the kickstand - and closes the ignition circuit. I.e. simply unscrewing the kill switch now allows your cycle to start regardless of kickstand position. Tie-wrapped the kickstand kill switch out of the way. Cycle now idles while kickstand is down! :-)

Really??? I am having the same problem. I bought a brand new Magician 250 a few weeks ago and I have yet to get it running. Battery is fully charged and all the lights work but It will not start. I was trying to start it in neutral with the kickstand down and it cranks fine but will not turn over. Is anyone on here 100% sure this bike will not start in neutral with the kickstand down? The reason I ask is because every other bike I own, Kawasaki Vulcan and a Yamaha V-star both have the same kind of kill switch but they will start in neutral. Also if you hold in the clutch and press the start button when the bike is in gear and the kickstand down it will not even attempt to turn over. Where as the Magician makes an attempt to turn over but it just doesn't start.
Any suggestions / comments? |

Eddie... welcome to the club!
I think all of us Magician owners get stumped by the darned "kickstand kill switch" Mfg needs to apply a sticker over the ignition switch advising to put the kickstand up when starting. However, I prefer simply unscrewing the kickstand switch. Aside from the minor annoyance of the kickstand switch, I am really enjoying the Mag!
