Fun project. Almost a China Riders flashback! We had a member put a 400 Honda in his Lifan GY. Probably the worlds fastest Lifan GY at the time.
Good luck with the project and keep us posted with lots of pics!

Will do shouldnt be to difficult as both engines are basically the same bore size is only different I think the 230cc engine is pushrod though and the Lifan engine may be the OHC

Give them a good scrub with a toothbrush and an compressed air nozzle, will look like new.

Indeed, two belly buttons, and no cam chain tensioners.

The gio should be a zongshen engine ,never seen a gio without one ,I wonder if your lifan has a zongshen in it for some reason ,or if they are both making virtually identical engines .

Not sure about the Gio's but from what I understand, there's a number of manufacturers (Lifan, Loncin, Zong, etc..) making the CG motor. I'm sure if culcune surfaces, he probably has a list somewhere.

Great project.
Do you guys remember when Wild Alaskan put a Honda 400cc engine in one and discovered you can bend a swingarm and the OEM forks and frame react poorly to jumping?
