I was wondering what you guys thought about this bike. I'm looking to get a larger bike. I know parts are expensive and this specific yr is a little temperamental, however for that price spuds like a deal. What do you guys think.

I rode that same model about two years ago. Large, heavy, loud, bike. Powerful and a good ride. The left side kick started gave me fits.
NOT a beginner bike....

Did you have any issues with it or was it a dependable bike?

I just rode it for a half hour. It belonged to the 17 year old neighbor kid. As far as reliablity goes I can't say, other than the kid was a hack as a mechanic, took no care of machinery, and rode fast as heck. Never saw him care for of even wash the bike.
If it help up for him it's a pretty reliable bike.

Not sure about the newer Husky's but my old 1975 still runs awesome!
I've had nothing but excellent service out of all my Husky stuff... Bikes, chainsaw, push mower, tractor/dumpcart and weedeater. It's why I never balk at buying the brand.....but as with anything used....one never knows how it was treated prior. Who makes their newer bikes though? Isn't it Cagiva or someone like that?

Noticed is comes with back registration fees. Add that to the asking price.
I think I would be looking for a more common bike, but I am sure its fun.

ya i looked at it and the other bikes the guy had and they all looked pretty abused, i passed on the bike. After looking at it and talking to him it seemed like a money pit, plus him describing how he rode it (really hard) did not impress or make me want to buy it. Idk why people say all that stuff when looking at bikes, i hear wheelies and i think its ben dropped a few times.
Just gotta wait for as great deal on a xr 400 or any drz 400. thanks for the quick responses and info. |

Smart to pass.
I also don't get why someone trying to sell a bike will brag about how they beat on it.... I also love the motocrossers for sale that are one year old, beat pretty solidly, and have 3 digit racing numbers on them. The ad read, 'Never raced'. :? Yeah, right.

I dont get it either Doc when i was looking at bikes before i bought this one, i looked at 3 others and with no permit etc, i made them ride it around and they all started it up and with no warm up rode them around pretty hard, redlinning, wheelies and locking up the back brake to stop. I can only thing they are showing off but in my mind im thinking what does he do to it when he's not being watched. Dont get it but it makes it easier i guess to determine not to buy the bike from someone.

The bike in the original post definitely screams junkpile, but I dont know if redlining and locking up the back brake qualifies the bike as being abused. Since everyone rides their bikes like that, maybe it's a good sign that everything works?
