A ride report of sorts. American made product :-)

Wichita, Kansas to be exact. The plane belongs to my friend, Cheri. She is an excellent pilot, but just a beginner. 200 hours. Yesterday I took her up for some mountain flying instruction. Her brother Monty joined us. Great people those two.

We flew to Joseph, Oregon, in the Wallowa Mountains. We had some snow there, so we went to Enterprise, OR, so as to not get stuck.

FastDoc and his lovely student. She flies as good as she looks.

Taxiing for takeoff in Enterprise, OR. Low-ish weather but a great view of the snowy mountains.

Cheri and Monty with the courtesy car at the airport. Many small airports keep a vehicle on hand for pilots to use when visiting. This was a neat old F350 with 327,000 miles on the clock.

Cheri's pretty 1964 Cessna Skyhawk. His name is Alfie!

Short final into Joseph. A little below glideslope but not bad.

No, that's where Cessnas are made.

She's a Washington desert girl. Notice despite the snowy cold weather at our destination Monty is still wearing his shorts! He didn't plan ahead on that one!

Okay. I was thinking that was a long way to fly in a cessna.

That is the model that I first flew in. It later burned on the runway. 8O

Haven't been in a small plane since.

My first flight was in a Cessna like that when I was 13. I was working that summer as a welder's helper, and my boss offered to fly me from Slave Lake, AB to Edmonton, rather than taking the bus.

I remember wondering if I would be able to take control of the plane, as I watched him drift off to sleep. 8O

Falling asleep at the controls is never a good thing. 8O However, there are far fewer things to hit, while airborne. The pilot just needs to be awake for the landing!

Nice. I love flying. I have a buddy who owns a Piper Arrow and Seminole. Whenever I need to take a business trip in the 300+ mile range I call him up first. The Seminole is charter certified, but the Arrow is not. If nobody else is going with me, we will take the Arrow and I log the flight hours for training. We recently flew into Ohio in some of the nastiest weather (snow, freezing rain) and I was amazed that we landed. It was quite an adventure.

Nice airplanes!

I especially like the Arrow. Kinda a poor man's Mooney. I have a few hours in a turbocharged Arrow.

MIC, chicks dig planes. 8)

And bikes too. :P
