Where are you going to mount the tool tube?
I hadn't thought to try something like that (and I've done plenty of projects with PVC).
Gonna have to build me one of those.

That, and your mention of conduit clamps, reminded me of another tool I made for the bikes w/ PVC I thought I'd share.

I took the basic idea from another forum, but they had a single straight bit of PVC w/ the adjusters on each end.
I prefer a slightly different version...







I use the tool to measure the distance between the swingarm pivot bolt and the rear axle, to ensure the axle is straight and the exact same distance on each side of the bike. This version of the tool allows me to use it on both of my bikes, quickly and effectively.
