I do have both my iPhone 7 Plus which is highly water resistant and I use it for lots like I have dropbox and have told it to cache the bikes manual, copies of my ID/passport/title/registration/insurance, multiple GPS applications and a few that support offline maps. I also have a Spot. I added additional GEOS options beyond the basics like search and rescue and medivac. I am considering next year moving to an Inreach since it supports two way communications rather than the spots one way and the Inreach uses the much better iridium sat network. I also installed USB ports on the bike so both of those devices stay running and won't go dead. It's too bad that the spot won't recharge on USB so I use Lithium batteries and they only get used while the bike is off. My wife LOVES getting the OK check-in from my spot since so many places I've ridden don't have cell coverage.
