Pull the sheath from the bottom (wheel end), slide the cable out, making sure you remember the orientation (which end is the low end), hose it down with carb cleaner or some other cleaner and wipe the muck off, hit it with WD40 and let it dry. Then, grease it and slide it back into the sheath. These things create a TON of friction twisting inside that sheath with no lube or that gummy crap that they sometimes come with from China. Snaps them in nothing flat.
