Bigger Tank

Well I found my other memory card for the camera and went out last night
and took these pics. I got this XR650L Clarke 4.7 gallon tank with petcock
and cap off of Adv. Rider for $60 shipped. I figured for the price it was
worth trying. If not I will relist it for what I paid. I took the stock tank off
and put this in it's place to test for fitment. It may work, but I have to
come up with a mount system as my original idea won't work. I aslo will
have to relocate the horn I installed and reroute the plug wire as this tank
hangs down alot further than the orginal one. The seat won't match up
correctly but that isn't a big deal. It's not the look but the function right.
Here's a couple of pics. Any opinions are appreciated.

Oh yeah, now you're talkin!!! How's the clearance around the frame backbone?

My idea was to put the bike in the back of the truck and take it down to a motorcycle salvage yard not far from here and fit tanks till I found the closest one. But you may have saved me a lot of work if this one works out.

Please keep us posted.

I was thinking of doing something similar to my bike -- but I found I can ride over 2 1/2 hours on the small tank that came with it so I passed on the idea.... mainly because of the mounting issues you're facing.

Looks like it will be nice when you're done though.... I like the semi-transparent tanks - easy to see when you're running low... even if they turn yellow you can still see the fuel inside.

That's pretty cool.. I think you could go cross-country with that tank, let us know how it turns out!

I have a Honda stock 650 tank making it's way towards me too. Let me know what mount you come up with.
