Come to think of it, the N.American rep for Bashan started posting a couple months ago on mychinamoto. Maybe join there and see if he would respond to your concerns.

'xpowersports' is his nickname. I almost fandangled a test bike out of him--he was supposed to speak with his distributors here in the US when he came to visit in June to ask if they were willing to part with one since I posted how happy I was with my TMEC (I really wanted a 250 in orange ). I also tried to get him in touch with Wade at Excalibur since he was going to be in L.A. for a week or so (I think he was meeting with SSR), but Wade was busy and they did not meet.

Good news! A spare CDI is a really good idea, for troubleshooting if nothing else.

Sorry to hear about the leaky filler.. Looks like mine wasn't an one off. I told them about it and they will send me a new cap.. if they ever get them in stock? I received my left hand cowling which had the green stripped off it due to the fuel.

Not sure a new cap is the answer.. Cap has to breathe, but as it's so deep and the tank is pressurized, then it seems inevitable that gas will get blown out. My main concern was that it poured onto the infamous "egg" that gets very very hot.. I think I was just a few degrees away from a nasty moment to be honest. Watching gas turn to steam between my legs was very unnerving.

Actually, if it's under pressure, then it wont need to breathe will it? Maybe half a balloon underneath might stop the back pressure? I still think a breather pipe was the way to go... why they chose this set up for a dirt bike I'll never know.

Can't wait for you "mods" reports

My safety trumps the EPA. I'd be sourcing a different tank with a standard vented cap. There must be one on Taobao that will work under the existing cowling.

I've just been filling to half a tank. I'm gonna make a new tank work somehow.

Folks near VA this bike will be for sale in a few months. I'm on the waiting list for the Zongshen RX3.
