Have you ever adjusted the valves?

Mine will do that when it is cold sometimes. I just idle it up a wee bit until it warms up. My prob is in the tuning as I still have the stock carb and have not adjusted it to cold weather.

It's been doing this when weather was hot also, and when the engine is warmed up it will not stall.
I've adjusted the valves a few times to spec.
As far as rejet, I need to change out the piolt? I'm out about 2.5 turns on the mix screw.
I have some very small drill bits I'm going to try to drill out the piolt jet. I've already changed out main jet to 110.

Ya, what he said.
The pilot jet is too small. Your not on the main till the throttle is open.

Yes, on the lean side, have you tried leaving the choke 1/2 on until it is warm?. I'm considering drilling the pilot jet as well. I measured the stock size orfice to be .016 thinking of .018.

Oh nvm I don't think I have a bit that small. What makuni jet is comparable?
I have same issue with choke on.
What material is the jet made out of? Maybe I can stick a wire through it and slowly enlarge it?

All jetting considerations should be done only on a hot engine. If your are showing signs of lean or rich once warmed up, then consider the jetting. Being 2.5 turns out is a better indicator of maybe needing to go up half a step or a full step.

All of that said, Digger brought up a better point. The half choke position exists for a reason. In sub 50 degree temps I will idle the bike up to a full minute at full choke before going to half choke, where it stays until the engine is up to temp enough where it will idle and run fine without it. The choke is there for more than just starting the bike.

You mean the pilot jet? That can't be replaced on the PZ30. If the choke half worked the pilot wouldn't matter..

With chock 1/2 way or full it won't start, choke off is the only way it will somewhat idle.

Same here, and that's with the mix screw 1.5 turns out, 0.00285 valves, and a 110 needle jet. You basically have to swap for a VM26 clone to get a proper pilot jet.. I'm just using starting fluid for now..
