Doh! no spark

Good morning all. My kid had a vx 80 redcat. for about a month now the machine will run for a little while with a new plug in it. After it is shut off, there is no spark and it needs to be replaced. I have changed the voltage regulator and coil. Any ideas on how to keep the machine from eating plugs? Thanks.

What brand spark plug you are using? A good replacement plug would be a NGK BP6HS.

Check and make sure that you have a good ground and power connections. Spark plugs don't burn up that easily. Seems like you may be having other issues such as a weak spark. You have already replace the coil so that should rule that out.
Some of the smaller Cc engines require a slightly hotter plug.

Any ground or connection areas more problematic than others?

Just out of curiosity, what does the old plug look like when you remove it? Is it black with oil and/or smell of gas?

Are you gassing the throttle while trying to start the bike (out of frustration to get it to start)?

I'd say your leaking oil into the cylinder if a brisk spark plug fails.
like dirtbkr188 said what does plug look like when it goes bad.

I have several honda big reds 200s and a polaris 90 that will eat ngk plugs anywhere from 5-30 min sumtimes itl run yan hr or so until i shut em off then wont start again,if i pull plug and crank bike while grounding plug itl have spark but they wont fire under compression.i also have had many other machines throughout my yrs owning my bike. Atv amd small eng shop do the same thing? I have never found a reason for it at all and i have done everything including replaceing every part on the bike just to try to fix it and nothing works but changing to autolite or champion copper plus or a exp plug of some other than ngk.im not against ngk because in other machines i have owned and worked on they run great and last forever.so i dont know why but some machines just love to eat ngk.? Maybe youve tried autolite or champion, but if not id sure give them a try has worked everytime for me.good luck

sparkplug

if your sparkplugs fire when out of the motor... under compression has nothing to do with the spark...... test with an ohm meter.... check the outside case and the electro.... it is ground to the case... how come you go thru so many plugs... strange... I would check the spark coil and try replacing it.... too much voltage.. check to see if you have 12 volts to it... sometimes some people put a resistor in the wiring ... like on older DODGE CARS...
