Doh! Magician gear shift wont shift.

Hello, the title says it all for the most part. I own a Magician 250 cc, and well, it seems as if the gear shifter is stiff as hell and will not shift up to second gear. When going 10 MPH, I hold in the clutch and go to change the gear and it just doesn't budge. I am a newbie rider and I have no experience other than really, starting the bike and riding at 10 MPH in which is when 1st gear gets at the highest point.

How many miles have you ridden the bike? I'm sure that you know that you push the shift lever down for first, and then raise the shifter for second, lift it again for third, lift it again for fourth, and finally lift it once more to get it into fifth. And you know that nuetral lies BETWEEN first and second. The more you ride it, and the more you shift it, the smooter it will get....ARH

Hold preasure on the gear lever & let the clutch out slowly.. see if that helps...
really no new bike should do this not even a china bike...
Being newish it might be a little hard to shift but it should go in...

These Magician's seem to be having more than there share of issues...
The magician is a copy of the Yamaha Trickster... Is the motor a copy
of the Yamaha motor aswell or a Honda copy ??

Nothing wrong with being a brand new rider but you need someone at a minimum to teach you the basics. Also there are 100s of videos on YouTube for motorcycle basics.

Hey Jarwolf, when I'm new to something I surround myself with knowledgeable folks and that for sure is what is here. I think even with the years of experience and wisdom that is here it is still difficult to assist over the internet.

I suggest you take a rider safety course. When I started riding on the street I had a buddy ride in front of me point out dangers. Then he would pull over and let me know what I did wrong.

If you know someone who can teach you the dangers that are just not there in a car but unique to a bike it can save your life. If you don't have that expert then try a motorcycle safety course.

Road riding is different from trail riding. Be safe.

It's the same engine as the Hawk, so that makes it a Chonda.

I posted a couple months ago that he was new to motorcycles and didn't know what he was doing. I didn't think I would see a post about shifting later.

He is a work in progress right now and in two months with training he will find 5th gear.
