Deck Stain
I need some opinions.
I built a couple decks a few years ago and I put on it what I always use, "Preserva-Wood". It's one of the last true oil based stains available in CA, from what I understand. We've had spectacular results on everything vertical. We have almost 6 years on the house and it still looks great....but wow.....it dies quickly on anything horizontal, especially with both decks taking a beating from the southern sun and the winter weather coming mostly from the southwest.....plus snow I've seen the Home Depot ads on "Deck Over"....but that looks like it's far more a paint or solid stain, than a regular stain. At this point, it's pressure wash and sand the redwood again and refinish. What have you guys had luck with?

So far I'm pretty impressed with this. It is thick so it can't be sprayed on to apply it but it sure soaks into the wood and seems to be very durable. I would use it again for sure.

Seems like I had good results with the Olympic brand oil based but not sure what specific product. I wonder if the thing to do in your "hard case" is to find one of those water based types that will allow you to easily apply in a pump up hand held sprayer that could be easily applied every year or so with no big fuss.
I know your thinking, "I want less work, not more"!

Sir...that is beautiful. Isn't this the deck you built yourself?
Seems like you or someone around here was going to build a deck as I remember.

Yes and thanks! Did a major remodel to the whole exterior of my house. All new doors, windows and siding, among other things.

And it looks likes it has always been there (this is complementary in my book)
