Question Led bulb functionality

Are there any led gurus out there?

Was looking at https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...Specifications for turn signal bulb. It shows uses only 100 MA and says it's a Ba9s-led-bulb base. Will they fit? Will these flash with the bashan/hawk setup? There are measurements on the page but haven't compared yet.

thank you HB, and thanks Spud for your previous post on this issue. I think I have a complete understanding of what is required now.

Could the indicator bulb also be changed to a led bulb to work along with the signal led's.

Such a wonderful resource for tech info on these bikes.

So I don't have to search, please post a link to my previous thread on this issue, BB.

Does your bike have a single, or a pair of turn signal indicators on the dashboard? Do you plan on using one pair, or two pairs of of LED turn signals?

Depending on the country, the little bulb is required as either a running light, or a parking light. Neither function is required in the United States.

That's correct. In the United States, this bulb is configured as a running light. If your headlight extinguishes, the running light will remain illuminated, signaling your presence to other vehicles.

In other countries the light is wired as a parking light. If you do a search on this topic, you will find an interesting thread at China Riders.

I see you are from Tuscaloosa. I have been a big fan of Randy Newman for decades. One of my favorite songs is Birmingham, from the original LP, Rednecks.

My daddy was a barber
And a most unsightly man
He was born in Tuscaloosa
But he died right here in Birmingham

So correct, Spud! Being a Q rider, I spend much of my time here on CR "living in the past". There's a wealth of information on any subject, on most any bike in our search history. Extremely valuable and easy to find with a minimum of "key words". I just did my Q valves on Saturday and found the specs in about 2 minutes tops, from 5 years ago.

Spud rider Repost from 4/2/14 LED BULB WIRING

If you have a single bulb for your turn signal indicator, the bulb uses each side of the turn signal system as a ground for the other side. Therefore, if you are using four, LED turn signals, you must remove the turn signal indicator bulb for the LED turn signals to work. If you wish to retain the turn signal indicator bulb, you can install the Kuryakyn Diode Kit.

http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/719/Diode-Kit

You can also buy this diode kit from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC.

http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...%20diode%20kit

If you wish, you can also make your own diode kit. Merely solder diodes into both the orange and sky blue wires leading to the indicator bulb, and connect another wire to ground, as shown in the following diagram.

When I performed this modification on my Zong, I used 1N4004 diodes I purchased from Radio Shack.

You can purchase a 2-pack of these diodes for $1.19, or you can buy a 25-pack of mixed diodes for $2.99.

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=2036270#
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...LAID=107592762

If you have an LED flasher relay installed, your LED turn signals will work as soon as you remove the turn signal indicator bulb. Removing the indicator bulb breaks the bleed over circuit to the turn signals on the opposite side. Therefore, removing the turn signal indicator bulb will allow you to use your LED turn signals. However, your turn signal indicator will not work with LED turn signals unless you solder the diodes into the wires as I described.
Thanks to spud and human being comment to this forum!

It has a single INDICATOR bulb in the dash. Yes I would want to replace all 4 blinker bulbs with led bulbs. (I assume this to mean 2 pair).

I already have a left front out. I have done lots of brush and deep trail 1st 2nd gear work so along withe the replaced front tube already, I have the broken bulb.

Spd, 2lz you guys were talking about searches, I tried LED but didn't find the topic . Probably did not try hard enough. Mabyou could edit that post and apply LED to the heading? Not a big deal.

Yes, you can use an LED bulb for the indicator light.
