Exclamation No spark condition (RPS Hawk 2020)

Hello everyone

Bought a 2020 RPS hawk from a powersports company in 2020, to powersports if I recall,

Methheads stole it in LATE 2020 and I recovered what was left of it in 2021 and rebuilt it in summer 2021 From scratch,

It then spent 2022 in Michigan over that summer and then I left it covered during the winter but due to personal issues I was not able to return until 2024, I sadly did not winterize it.

When I resurrected her in late spring 2024 she had a gallon of water in the oil tank, the oil had separated not sure how the water got in there , we redid her with fresh oil and now she has a “no spark” condition, but she does crank over so the motor is not seized at all, I just checked the first stop after the plug (the wire looks in good condition) when I try to turn her over I see resistance on my meter coming off the wires at the “stator”????, I’ll take pics . Right now it could be a stator, CDI, regulator, battery possibly, but that wouldn’t stop the spark if we cranked it , so I’m at a loss.

I don’t want to start throwing parts at it until I have a good idea where to start

Thanks for any suggestions

Check that you coil has a good ground to the chassis. Also check that you didn't accidently hit the kill switch. many of us have been guilty of doing that including myself.

It has an AC style CDI if it's the carb style, so does not need a battery to run. First I'd make sure the wiring is good, then test with a brand new plug for spark, Then the CDI is a cheap to buy to eliminate if it's that

New plug, no spark , all grounds good, power to speedo cluster , no broke wires that I can see, I’m eying the CDI, should I just buy new CDI, coil, and regulator and just cover all bases , or can we test further

Btw battery is likely shot, but shouldn’t interfere with spark
