Please HELP! Hawk 250 Ignition Open Shut Switch Switch

So I was was tinkering with my new Hawk 250 tonight and saw a switch on my ignition labeled "open" and "shut" and switched the lever to "shut" to see what it does. The lever shut easily by hand and the purpose of this option was to cover the entry of the ignition key so that my key wont be able to access the key slot. So after discovering this neat feature, I tried to open this switch back up but it WONT OPEN by hand! So I am unable to now fit my key into the key slot to start my bike because this sliding cover is now fully over my ignition key slot!

Can someone PLEASE tell me how I can open this switch back up to the "open" position?? It switched to the "close" position SO EASILY, but now it seems to be LOCKED in the CLOSED position so I am unable to insert my key to start my bike!!! Is this normal? And if so, can someone PLEASE tell me how I may get this switch back to the "open" position because it refuses to be switched back to open!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use the black end of the key. Insert the hex shaped end and turn

Glad I found this thread. I just had the same issue tinkering before I assembled it.

FYI, these key cover thingamabobs are universal to Honda ignitions and all clones thereof (as far as I can tell). It's to prevent thieves from sticking a screwdriver in your ignition, theoretically.

My wife's Honda Metropolitan has exactly the same thing, as does my Bashan BSR250/Enforcer. The hex doohickey that unlocks one also unlocks the other.

If you lose the hex doohickey, one from any Honda key will work. For some reason, the Bashan has the hex thing separate from the key so as to make it more easily lost, whereas the Honda key blanks have it moulded into the head of the key.

If you don't have a Honda key and are in a pinch, you can make your own hex "key" trivially by grinding down the head of a bolt. You need to drill the little divot in the center and then provide a protrusion to engage with the notch in one of the flats. Just sinking a set screw in so it sticks out about 1/16" is sufficient, or start with a bolt head one size too big and then shave it down so that a nub sticks out. You have to think that any professional scooter thieves probably already have such a tool...
