Tao E1-500 electric atv problem....

Hello,
I need some help please. My daughter's e1-500 just stopped working all of the sudden. The symptom is that when you twist the throttle, the motor moves for one second, making a noise like a grinding of some sort, then quickly slows to a stop even when keeping the throttle open. If I let off the throttle and twist it again, it continues to do the same thing. I am uploading a video to youtube to share with you. It was working perfectly fine yesterday, then starting doing this today. Can you help me diagnose this problem? Thank you.

I figured out that the noise was actually a loose chain hitting the chain guard. But the problem still exists with the power cutting out after 1/2 of a second. The battery tests fine at 39.4volts I think it's either the speed controller or the motor maybe?

But what is the battery voltage under load. You might have some weak cell that under no load are at resting voltage but as soon as any current is drawn they sag causing the ESC to hit LVC (if it has one) killing the motor.

Good point. Highly possible.

I don't know much about these ATV's but I found a manual on line that describes a brake interrupt control that may be the culprit. It suggests loosing the brakes.

https://www.familygokarts.com/pdf/ma...atv-manual.pdf

There is a electrical block diagram that also shows different speed settings. Does this happen at the different speed settings?
