Templar X Brakes

I just received my Templar X 250 and on my first test ride, both the front and rear brakes are very weak. I bled them and it helped some, but not enough. I also adjusted the front brake lever and the rear linkage. At least now I can Stop. Any tips would be appreciated.

I would first get some brake cleaner and spray and clean both sides of both rotors. Make sure any manufacturing waxes or grease have not gotten on your brakes. It’s good to clean them on an ongoing basis since brakes are rather important so if you don’t have brake cleaner get some and keep it handy in the shop. Then make sure you bed in the brake pads. While the brake lines are not braided I can lock up my Templar X 250 wheels on just the oem factory supplied brake hardware if I put my mind to it. You may need to remove and clean the pads to make sure no waxes or grease is on them. If you do remove the pads you could also try breaking them in with a bit of abrasive rub on the concrete floor.

Before or after you bled the lines.

If there is no air in the system the brake lever shouldn't go to the bars. My Templar arrived with a heavy coating of oil on the brake rotors which I cleaned off with brake cleaner prior to fouling the pads with oil. You should probably remove your pads, clean the rotors and pads and scuff the pads good with some sandpaper to remove the oil fouled surface material. Also check the adjustment bolt on the brake lever. GL

The levers are adjustable. Extend the adjustment pin to get the lever farther from the bar, where you like them.

And yes, there can be oil on the rotors or containating the pads. Clean 'em up!

And you may have air in the lines, so bleed 'em! The reservoir on the rear is tiny, but it is there. Make sure it is topped of while/after bleeding.
